Rotational motion (UE5)

I could see a couple general approaches. If you wanted to keep this all in Niagara, you could make your emitter(s) shape location be offset in X/Y over time with two sin waves offset to make a circle pattern. From there, you could adjust their progress along that circle (and the size of the circle) with curves over time. It might also be possible, and maybe easier, to animate the two converging points in your 3d app of choice (blender/maya/etc) and then attach a separate system to each. I used to do stuff like this in Unity frequently, a mix of hand animated stuff and particle assets, but have ..read more

Rotational motion (UE5)

Hi everyone! I would like to replicate the rotational motion of this particle. In particular the rotating inwards motion and the “rotation trail” behind the 2 “balls”. Anyone that has an idea on how to approach this or knows of any useful tutorials, please let me know. Thank you in advance ..read more

Thanks @simonschreibt !! I really liked the reference of the tornado ball! After seeing this reference i do plan on adding some separate particles for the droplets, it looks more appealing with separate particles and then a separate sphere (maybe other mesh ?) for the tornado. I was planning to us this image as some reference for colors and maybe shapes…but it depends on how it will turn out in unity. I have never rendered any FX in unity before, just used unreal mostly, so I hope it goes well ..read more

Spawning meshes with velocity in beam emitter

Hi everyone! I’m meeting kind of a specific issue using Beam emitters, I would like to spawn little meshes with their velocity going in direction of the Beam end, but since I’ve been using the beam setup pretty recently, I haven’t really found out how to do that… I tried putting my user parameter “beam end” into my mesh velocity’s cone angle, but it’s not following the positions. Also tried making an user parameter of the beam start and tryingthe same thing but it’s not working neither. I guess it’s not the most complicated thing ever but I don’t really find the logic for the velocity here Th ..read more

If you’re using events to emit particles, you can check the option and change it to a negative value to inherit the velocity, and if you’re using staging, you can also select the inheritance id to access the particles correctly ..read more

Shackman's VFX Sketchbook

Greetings! I am Shackman, aka a dude who was once so broke he had to live in a bamboo shack with half a wall between mattress and toilet Currently I live in a place with real walls and work mostly as a game programmer. I’ve been dabbling in VFX for a long time but decided to finally pursue it as my main direction. I’m a long time lurker on this forums and love going through VFX sketchbooks, so I’ve finally decided to make one myself. I’m currently working on an idle mobile game that is really just a playground for me to create VFX. The plan is to convert it to a VR game in the near future. T ..read more
