Dear Panna Thai Restaurant:  Thank you for the lovely dining experience!  My dear friends surprised me for a cozy celebratory dinner at your Southwest Las Vegas spot.  We hadn't had a just girls meet up for a while as our sweet little ones are always involved in our gatherings. We have seven amazing boys between the three of us so when we all hang out it can get to be boisterous in the best possible kid-centric way. This was quite the quiet dinner in contrast, haha.   Photo by Jules @ Lovely Las Vegas The Delicious Eats:  Photos by Jules @ Lov ..read more

To:  Via Brasil Steakhouse 1225 S. Fort Apache Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89117 Dear Via Brasil:  I recently dined at your restaurant to celebrate the birthdays of two dear Leo friends (my amigas since the 1990s.?)  I love how you are nestled in the Summerlin Boca Park area and that you have a beautiful Jerusalem Stone facade. On the rare occasion I have dined at a Brasilian rodizio-style restaurant, I've gone to Texas de Brazil in Town Square so it feels nice to come to a lovely spot a bit closer to home.  Wanting to say thank you very much for a wonderful evening. I visited Faith Lutheran Thrift Store this weekend and was happy to find quite the deal of the day: $0.99 for shirts and pants! I came away with numerous items, include brands from anthropologie, bebe, Ann Taylor, American Apparel, espirit, etc.  Not on sale, but special nonetheless, I also scored a ceramic berry carton and a bier stein marked Western Germany on the bottom, marked with different cities in Germany. Since I've traveled to Munich, I though it was a perfect thing to pick up and enjoy since I never dreamed of perchasing such a thing on my travels due to risk of breakage ..read more

Lovely Las Vegas: Pine Trees and Pine Cones

As a child, one of my favorite parts of growing up in Las Vegas was road trips to Mount Charleston. I loved the drive there, enjoying the desert terrain on the way there (yay to Yuccas and desert flowers!) and loved the transition as the scenery began to look more like a forest, with pine trees and the feel of lush greenery surrounding you, creating a cozy retreat from city life.  While the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest / Spring Mountain National Recreation Area host a bevy of pine trees, it is amazing how many pine trees make their home in the Las Vegas Valley (North Las Veg ..read more

Lovely Las Vegas: Poor Agave

A happy little agave / century plant I walked past in a parking lot. An sad moment for the agave in my yard.  This poor plant fell, unrooting itself and apparently had been infected by little grubs that love to infest agaves.  We had no clue! The plant nursery recommended we get a special powder insecticide that will prevent those little guys from invading again.  I'm so sad though... What a lovely agave... I hadn't been aware that they could be fragile and prey to insects.  Do you have recommendations on how to maintain a hearty agave? Or any stories of similar ..read more

I adore these colorful clusters ... Aren't they beautiful, whimsically sweet blooms?  I see these flowers around the Las Vegas Valley quite a bit but never really knew what they are. I think I'm now in the know ... They are part of the Aster family ... Commonly know as Yarrow and to get all scientific, the genus and species is Achillea millefolium.  So happy to be aware of this as I'm sure it will help in locating these beauties on future gardening endeavors. Now that I can ask for them by name.  What do you think of these Aster family beauties? Gorgeous, vibrant col ..read more
