People seemed to enjoy this and showed off their work on Facebook! If you would like to do more projects like this check out The Art of the Fold by Hedi Kyle and Ulla Warchol ..read more

March 17, 2020 Governor Sisolak put the state into lock down, everything closed and we were told to stay home and self-isolate due to the global pandemic, coronavirus Covid-19. Red Rock Harley Davidson also had to close so we had to re-imagine our guild, as everyone else was having to do, so we learned to Zoom. March and April were cancelled as the board was learning to Zoom, and figure out the logistics of our document camera. Steep learning curve for some of us, all in a day's work for others. We surveyed the members and told them we were moving to the Zoom format, Cathy Lauinger would gi ..read more

March 14, 2020 Mary Hill arranged a special, private tour of the Neon Museum and Tim Burton’s Lost Vegas. We had two docents, and a private tour of both the museum and the huge storage facility at the Review Journal, where they are warehousing all of the neon signs that will be restored and then moved to the new museum annex at the old Dula Center, across the street from the Neon Museum. Then we had lunch at Benny Binion’s Horseshoe Club. What a great day we had. And then life as we knew it changed.  ..read more

Pat Evans, a member from Kingman, Arizona and very active in the Kingman Center for the Arts (https://kingmanarts.org). Pat covered the floor with large tarps and then long sheets of  paper at the Red Rock Harley Davidson classroom. She brought huge brushes that had to be at least 3 feet long, dipped the brushes into ink, and then standing over the paper did vertical calligraphy to prepare large wall hangings. Some members brought their own paper to use the large brushes on. There was a lot of fun to be had between waiting for the paints and inks to dry. Many scri ..read more

This meeting of the Fabulous Las Vegas Scribes at the Red Rock Harley Davidson started with our annual business meeting. We voted on a few updates to our bylaws and voted on our slate of officers for the 2020 year. After we took care of business we moved on to the fun stuff: Scherenschnitte, which means "scissor cuts" in German, is the art of paper cutting design.  The Fabulous Las Vegas Scribes were led by Patty Craddock in the making of our own Scherenschnitte tree. We all had our own spin on this and each was unique and beautiful ..read more
