I have a job to hang curtains.
The problem is that the building is 150 years old with triple brick/mortar walls that have been covered in drywall with a small gap between the two.
The gap is too small for a butterfly screw and trying a mortar plug resulted in the mortar crumbling - I can only feel this not see it.
So I'm looking for a solution.
The best I've come up with is a Chem bolt in the hope that the glue will bind the mortar.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Next month I'm adding r38 insulation over this cellulose. It's 1,728 sqft and I quoted them for $1.65 per sqft. Found out after giving them my estimate that an actual insulation company was quoting them $10,000. Just me and a ground man doing this job fyi.

Had a contractor replace existing custom bent aluminum window trim with LP Trim. They caulked between the new LP trim and existing J channel and it looks terrible. These are flush mount windows. They did not caulk between J channel and LP trim for our recessed windows. Why? How should this have been done so it functioned properly and looked good?

Hi all,
I just moved into the new house and wanting to install Kwikset Powerbolt 250 on the front door.
However, I’m facing an issue here trying to remove the front panel (pictures attached). Looks like the previous owner painted over the lock when they painted the door. And there’s a metal piece stuck inside.
Is there a fix here or am I stuck with the OG lock? ? thanks for all your suggestions.

What are your thoughts on this kind of joint fastening? I follow here just as a lurker, since I have zero practice. I stumbled across this on Instagram today, and even though it seems cool, I feel like this is probably just a "cool gadget for showing" instead of something reliable. Am I mistaken?

I couldn't find any yt link that doesn't seem like an advertise for a specific product, if anyone has one please let me know and I'll edit the post.

I’m a handyman and I’ve installed tons of fans , sometimes they go in reverse for a second and start up in the right direction.
Well today I installed one and when you turn the fan on it will start in the wrong direction and it looks as if the motor is struggling then suddenly the fan will vibrate from the motor shutting off, and it will either try that again or start up normally. Once the fan is running it works really well. I’m just concerned about this vibration the motor is giving during start up. I haven’t come across this before

Howdy everyone working hard out there. I just came across a job that was estimated around $15,000 in repairs and demolition.
I was asked if I could do the work while under another contractors license.
I haven't jumped into the realm of being a 10-99 employee under a contractor, so I have many questions there as well.
But, am I "legally" able to do more than the allotted $3000 limit a handyman can do per project if it is under a contractors license and how? I am licensed and operating in the state of Utah.

Found under tar paper. Is it mold? It lines up right where the nail holes are.
