My daughter turns 3 in May. I potty trained her in January. She sleeps in a pull up. Whenever my nanny takes her to the park or out she puts her in a pull up. The past 3 weeks I’ve finally talked to her three times saying we need to be done with the pull up and explained she starting preschool in June and it’s not an option and it’s confusing for her. After an outing in a pull up she’s been having a ton of accidents with us in the car. The last time I talked to her she agreed and then she told me she was doing a pull up because there was no indoor bathroom space (my daughter is deathly afraid ..read more

Hi guys, I’m a seasoned Nanny and usually I have no issues landing the job, but lately I’ve been tanking all my interviews and it’s becoming an issue. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to portray myself. It’s like when i am interviewing with the parents I’m in school at an exam all over again and I just blank out what I need to say. I have another upcoming job interview this Saturday for a family with 6 month twin boys(I have twin experience as well with weaning and introducing to solids and all the developmental milestones. really really need to land this job. My agency, is going to prep me on Fr ..read more

Hi! I am a nanny in NYC and a family I started for asked if I would accept childcare voucher. I have no idea what this entails and I tried finding information about receiving it and I hit a wall. If anyone could explain it that would be great! submitted by /u/wholesomebloob [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How to quit NF of 7 years?

I’ve been with them for 7 years, I work only 2 shifts per week now. I cut my days down once I had my son 2 years ago. I am ready to move on and I’m having the hardest time figuring out how/when to quit. I want to give them enough notice and stay through the end of the school year. The kids are all 13 and up and we are so close. Their mom is nice but can also snap in a moments time and be very rude and mean. I feel sick to my stomach about it. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Wonderful-Meal-2030 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

No breaks

I’ve been working for a new family since the start of 2024. I work 7 hours days 8-3. One of the boys naps (1 year old) and the other naps once every blue moon (2 year old) but when he does, ND always finds things for me to do. I don’t really get a break to eat or to even look at my phone. If he sees me sit he will find laundry for me to do or give me a crazy task to complete. 3 weeks ago he saw me sit after about 5 hours of being there and he went to get Clorox wipes so I could wipe off all their small toys. He’ll bring the vacuum to me so I can clean the playroom. I get it I clean after the ..read more

They don’t let us leave the house…

I’ve been a professional nanny for 7 years. I’ve worked with kids of all ages but mostly infants & toddlers. Where I live is starting to get expensive and I wasn’t in a position to say no so I accepted an offer with a family and have been with them for about a month now but they have only let us leave the house 1 time & now come up with every excuse in the book as to why we can’t leave the house when I ask if we can go out. When I interviewed, I told them that the first week or two I was okay with staying at home while kiddo (15months) & parents adjusted to me. They agreed to ALL ..read more

I am a nanny for two families, with two children total. Both are 10 month old girls. G1 is a very happy and laid back baby, and her parents are relaxed, communicative, and super responsive. They respect me as a professional and often defer to my expertise, and trust me 100%. G2 is on the fussy side, and struggles with a few allergy complications that can make her uncomfortable at times, but we are working through it! Her parents micromanage every part of the day and generally struggle with allowing me to provide care throughout the day. When I first interviewed almost 5 months ago, G2’s paren ..read more

NF refusing to classify me as a 1099

I’ve been working for my NF for 8 months. According to the MB when I was employed she stated I was a 1099 (I don’t recall this). Now tax season comes around and I’m finding out that I’m actually supposed to be W2. MB is refusing to file me as a W2. “I’m just not going to put myself in a situation where I have to pay additional taxes for your employment”. She’s comparing my work to and Uber or Lyft because they are 1099 however I don’t get to chose when I work, I have a schedule she decides every week and tasks she directs while I’m working. I don’t know what to do at this point, should I file ..read more

Best ways to find a nanny position

Hello everyone, I’d really like to get into the nanny career, however, I’m having a tough time finding the best way to go about it. I created a care.com profile (which I’m not sure is the best route) and tried looking online on FB as well. So, just like the title above says what is the best way to find a nanny position or more adequately put, what are some ways that you find your nanny position (I.e. care.com, FB, nanny agency, etc.)? submitted by /u/Objective-Eye-7313 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
