The covid 19 pandemic  represents an unprecedented scenario in the modern age and as such it is impossible to measure accurately exactly how this has impacted on the mental health and well being of children and young people and how they will be affected going forward with the return to school.  Indeed, for some of those individuals lockdown has largely felt secure and even fun, whereas for others it will have been quite the opposite.  How best can we support our children/charges in their return to their formal learning setting and minimise disruption? Just like that, Christmas is a distant memory and suddenly February half term holiday is upon us. If, like me, you are a busy working Mum, or indeed a nanny usually working around the school day, the prospect of juggling work with the kids off school (especially at a time of year when the weather can be particularly unpredictable) may be a little daunting and “harmonious” is not the first word that springs to mind when pondering that week. So here are a few tips to help keep it that way: Plan ahead.  You know that week is coming up, so have a think about what you could be doing each day ..read more

Having just attended one of our bi-annual ANA member conferences, it seemed timely to share with you some information about this awesome organisation we are proud to be a part of and highlight some of the ways nannies and families can benefit from using an ANA agency. I always find meal planning a super idea if you have little ones to take care of. I often struggle to decide what to make without thinking ahead and love to prepare in advance, my meals and my ingredients. I often find when I don’t prepare, I end up giving my kids meals that aren’t particularly healthy. A lot of employers will be most impressed if you create a meal plan for the week, it’ll also most likely make things a lot easier for you and enable you to spend more time with the children as opposed to spending more time in the kitchen…..unless of course you plan to create a masterpiece me ..read more

However, many families don’t know exactly what to expect their nanny to do and while a well-rounded nanny can perform many wide-ranging tasks supporting a busy working family, there are plenty of things that stand beyond the realm of their responsibility. It is important to recognise that the primary focus of the nanny’s job should be on your children. As nannies begin to feel more like ..read more
