ANI is delighted to announce our Nanny Spotlight: Olivia Hutton! Olivia is a former San Diego native who is new to the Seattle area, but definitely not new to nannying! She is a passionate caregiver who is inspired by early childhood development, making sure kids are engaged and learning while always continuing to have fun! She truly is a wonderfully caring person who is always looking to go the extra step to help others. Olivia, we are so proud to represent you! How did you become involved in working with families and children? When I was 12, I was hired as a babysitter for my neighbor’s 2-y ..read more

Black History Month Resources for Families – Books!
Annie's Nannies, Inc.
by Emily Snow

As Charnaie of @Hereweeread so succinctly puts it: Black History is American History and should be celebrated and acknowledged all year, not just in February. Black History month reminds us that although there has been some progression over the years, there is still so much work that needs to be done. It’s a time to celebrate Black Joy, learn about Black inventors, scientists, and politicians. Read books not only about civil rights, but also read books about self-love and ones that showcase Black kids being everyday kids. Here are some books and story times for you to share with your children ..read more

UPDATE: Phase 2 Guidelines for In-home/Domestic Services
Annie's Nannies, Inc.
by Emily Snow
4y ago
In-home/domestic services may now operate subject to Phase 2 guidance of King County’s “Phased Approach to Reopening Business and Modifying Physical Distancing Measures.” This means that in-home nannies and household support providers are now permitted for both essential and non-essential workers. We encourage families to make their own decisions relating to their health and nanny employment. However, we hope everyone will comply with the Stay at Home order as much as possible. This is also a good time for families and providers to have open communication about sick care, sick leave, backup ..read more

Our “Sanity Schedule”
Annie's Nannies, Inc.
by Emily Snow

By Fleur Coe It may seem like an exaggeration, but as this Stay Home Order goes on (and on… and on…) this has been a total sanity saver when it comes to being home with my two little ones. While Baby E (10mos) is happy to explore the house with her new found crawling and pulling up skills, S (almost 3) needs a whole lot of stimulation to keep him out of mischief, and coming up with new activities on the fly takes a LOT of mental energy. About a month ago, I came up with this “sanity schedule” – it’s purpose is to give me some direction and our days at home some predictability. When my morning ..read more

Nannying with a Parent Working from Home
Annie's Nannies, Inc.
by Emily Snow

By Fleur Coe Embrace this as the new normal for the foreseeable future and beyond. The way people work will be permanently changed and both families and nannies will need to make adjustments and figure this out together. If you’re not currently with your family, talk to them about what they’re doing now and find out what is and isn’t working for the parents AND the kids. My perspective – a former nanny, now parent, whose spouse has been working from home for the past 2.5 years. The first 8 months of which was in a 700sqft house with zero sound insulation and a 6mo baby boy who had newly found ..read more

On March 23, 2020, Governor Jay Inslee released a statewide “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order which will last for two weeks, though it could be extended.  The Governor also designated a list of “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers” who may continue to work at this time. We encourage families to make their own decisions relating to their health and nanny employment. However, we hope everyone will comply with the Stay at Home order as much as possible. If you are a client or registered nanny with us and have any specific questions or concerns regarding your employee or terms of employmen ..read more
