Time to refill the cup. I just wrapped up a MASSIVE illustration project (cannot wait to show you!), graduated from Ayurveda school (thank you for your sweet & supportive comments!) and our homeschool is slowly winding down (first year of homeschool high school in the books!). Lots of good - amazing - things, for sure. And I find myself in need of a little rest! A mini-retreat just for me. So I booked a couple nights solo in a tiny cabin in the woods. And my plan is to sleep, do some gentle yoga, meditate, journal and sit by the fire soaking in the forest around me. Unwind in my body and ..read more

Celebrating Ayurvedic School Graduation

Overjoyed to share a major accomplishment - I officially graduated Ayurveda school! I’m super-proud to have completed this training, an intense process that has required many long days and LOTS of learning. But even more than the pride, I’m filled with *excitement* to apply this knowledge to help people live healthier, more balanced lives. I truly believe in the power of Ayurveda, having already applied much of it in my own life. I feel clearer, more centered, empowered, and bursting with creativity – like a creative torch has been ignited! And the good news doesn't stop there! I'm current ..read more

Misty morning, Glowing greens, Hello again

Rain today. I walk the dog anyway, needing to move my body this morning. I pull on a hat to keep my shower-wet hair covered. As I step outside and become part of the show I was watching through the window, I notice how vibrant the greens are - they’re actually glowing. Neon light greens. Soft aqua greens. Dark forest greens. They appear still and joyful, soaking up this water falling from the sky. It’s not raining too hard so I take a longer walk. Mist hits my face and tickles. I feel it like sparkles. Or the softest kiss. The world feels like love. As I walk, the mist accumulates and I get w ..read more

New work alert! I had the pleasure of illustrating three scenes for Apartment Therapy. They partnered with Decoy Featherweight Sauvignon Blanc to share some fun hang out ideas now that spring is on its way. The three scenes are a garden party, an outdoor movie night and a porch party. All sound pretty dreamy right now! I hope you enjoy the work ..read more

This was one of my favorites from “Crocodiles Need Kisses Too” - vultures! I have come to appreciate carrion birds more since my kid and I are doing an environmental science class. These birds are super important in the cycles of life. I didn’t realize that when I drew this, and it’s fun to watch understanding develop. I did my best to make these unattractive fowl somewhat cute ..read more

Crocodiles Need Kisses Too - spreading love with kind actions

In these few days leading up to Valentine's Day, I thought it'd be fun to share some of the sweetness from my book "Crocodiles Needs Kisses Too"! I know Valentine’s Day can be a mixed bag for people - there’s a whole spectrum of feelings about it, to say the least. But I think if we can manage to set aside our personal views of it and just share a little bit of kindness with the people around us in any way - it’s a good day in my book. ? So wave to your elderly neighbor. Smile at the tired grocery store clerk. Hold a door for the next distracted mom. It all adds up to more love shared. (p ..read more

Skillful vs Unskillful
Penelope Dullaghan
by Penelope Dullaghan

A few weeks ago I started a new practice of journaling just before bed. It’s just a quick five-minute recap of the day, but not as a written-out play-by-play of events. It’s more about looking at situations that came up that day, and thinking through how I handled them. Did I act in a way I’m proud of? Would I do it that way again? Or, with the benefit of hindsight, do I wish I’d acted differently? If I could have a redo, would I want one? I call it “Skillful” versus “Unskillful” action - actions that lead to happiness and joy; and ones that lead to unhappiness or regret. And then, if I wish ..read more
