Our new season of Prostate FFIT comes to Tayside! As well as continuing our Prostate FFIT programme at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock, we’re excited to announce our new partnership with Saints in the Community. Prostate FFIT is coming to St Johnstone FC at McDiarmid Park in Perth! We’ve teamed up with the SPFL Trust to launch the unique Prostate Football Fans in Training (Prostate FFIT). Rotary in Scotland has been a driving force for good in 2023, raising over £22,000 in aid of our work! We’re delighted to receive continued support and funds from Rotary Clubs in Scotland. While Rotary Rides for Prostate Cancer have been a big part of Rotary’s support of our work, we’ve really enjoyed collaborating with clubs on other activities. We’re over half way into the third season and Prostate FFIT’s on the news! Prostate FFIT, our pioneering exercise programme for men affected by prostate cancer was featured on STV News at Six! It’s run in partnership with The SPFL Trust and the University of Glasgow. We’re thrilled to work with Kilmarnock FC and Rangers FC this season. 11 March 2024 11.55 am Prostate Scotland welcomes the decision by the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) to make Olaparib available on the NHS in Scotland for metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer. Prostate Scotland said: ‘This is very welcome and helpful news as Olaparib with abiraterone has been shown for people who have metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer and who have not yet had chemotherapy or where chemotherapy is not an option, that it could increase the chances of progression free survival[i]. With our new season of Prostate FFIT kicked off, we’d like to say congratulations to last season’s ‘players’ for completing their programme! Our teams at Rugby Park and Tynecastle completed Prostate FFIT in December. It’s our 12 week exercise programme run in partnership with the SPFL Trust and the University of Glasgow. ‘Enlarged prostate’ has been widely talked about in the news over the past week. This prostate disease is less widely known and talked about than prostate cancer. However, it is a common condition. In Scotland, almost 1 in 2 people over 50 who have a prostate can be affected and it becomes more common as they get older.  The medical term for this is Benign Prostatic Enlargement (BPE) or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
