Two male Dippers competing for the same territory, which belonged to the Dipper on the right of the photo. This happened so quickly, first I heard the alarm call, then this other male come into shot on the left hand side. The Dipper on the right then made himself look bigger, begin to sing and aggressively gesture to the other Dipper. https://blog.craigjoneswildlifephotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/VIDEO_0317.mp4 Fascinating behaviour to witnessed, and not long after this photo was taken the Dipper on the left flew off and the Dipper carried on feeding in this river in the Peak ..read more

I’m pleased to announce that I am a judge on this years Mammal Society photography competition. This fantastic UK based charity established in 1954 is devoted to the study and conservation of the mammals of the British Isles. Their aim is to raise awareness of the issues mammals face and share scientific research so they can be best protected in the future.  This year they celebrate their 70th year of helping our mammals, which is just incredible. They have a really strong ethical stance in their competition which I’m so glad of and something that I’m extremely passionate about. Nat ..read more

The Cairngorms National Park is the largest National Park in the Britain. A lot of this pristine environment is untouched, creating a landscape like no other. It is home to some of Britains most specialist wildlife that live in this tough and testing environment. It provides a unique habitat which is home to many rare plants, birds and animals. Its one of my favourite places in the country, a beautiful, wild and unforgiving place which adds to its beauty. Snow Bunting are a beautiful little bird that is almost exclusively a winter visitor to our shores. It is also a very rare breeding spec ..read more

I have a few places still available on my 2024 tour to the Falkland Islands. This will be my fourth tour that I’ve ran and organised to the Falklands over the last decade. It’s one of my favourite places in the world, where the wildlife is so beautiful and very trusting. I have managed to secure four nights at the Neck on Saunders Island as part of my itinerary. This island is an incredible place, where all around your accommodation there is wildlife everywhere. Its just us and nature there and nobody else. To find out more about this amazing tour or if you’d like to book then click ..read more

Short-eared Owls are commonly seen hunting during the day here in the UK. During the Winter months their numbers can increase greatly with an influx of birds from the continental. There seems to be an abundance of Short-eared owls around at the moment. These beautiful owls with their distinct stare are just gorgeous. I run Short-eared Owl workshops all year round. If you’d like to see, photograph and learn more about these amazing owls then click here for all the information and dates, many thanks. As a wildlife photographer my mission is to help wildlife with my images, telling their stories and more about where and how they live. Turning passion into a positive, I use my heart and camera to inspire change, portraying the beauty of the natural world as well as the not-so-beautiful things happening to animals at the hands of humans. I am committed to helping wildlife and conservation and driven to document this through the medium of photography. I try to show not only the beauty of the natural world but also the suffering within that world to give all those animals a true and meaningfu ..read more
