There’s a famous line in the film, Pet Sematary, in which the character of Jud Crandall, played so well by Fred Gwynne declares, “Sometimes dead is better.” It’s a line that fits the tenor of the movie. Where can the Halloween franchise go after the Blumhouse trilogy comes to an official end this October? Well, one idea we could see happening would be the return of Danielle Harris as Jamie Lloyd. Originally slated for release on September 9th, 2022, writer/director Gary Dauberman‘s new remake of Stephen King’s 1975 vampire novel Salem’s Lot has lost its intended calendar slot entirely. As of reporting this news update, Warner Bros. has yet to announce a new date. Dark Universe will report back as soon as a new date has been officially announced by the company. For the record, I firmly believe that the original Jurassic Park is a horror film. Yes, the series goes in a more action/adventure direction with subsequent installments, but that cold open is one of the greatest opening scenes in all of cinema, horror or otherwise. That said, the filmmakers’ call to go with a PG-13 rating does limit how severe the on-screen carnage can get. While best known as the godfather of the zombie horror subgenre, George A. Romero wrote and directed a number of films without the living dead, namely the first two Creepshow films, Bruiser, and The Dark Half.
