We All Must Take Action: We only have one planet that we can collectively call home. Yet IPCC Report after IPCC Report warns us that this planet, our home, is under grave threat of environmental breakdown unless we take serious, urgent, action to avoid it. In this context, each company and government have a responsibility to act rapidly to address the environmental crisis and reduce their carbon footprints. We are determined to reduce our negative impact on the environment and have committed to integrating environmental performance into company decision making. This year, we have partnered wit ..read more

The London Marathon is less than two weeks away and I cannot believe how fast it has come around! The butterflies have begun that’s for sure, but I guess being nervous shows how much I care about this. I have given training my all, it has already been the biggest challenge of my life, but I don’t think I could have done any more so I’m feeling ready! I’m very excited to learn of the difference my fundraising has made, that has kept me going and will hopefully get me all the way to the finish line. Having only got a place 10 weeks ago, I’m pretty proud of myself. If you had asked me a few mont ..read more

Ella’s Journey – An Update

Despite feeling extremely proud of myself after my half marathon and going into my next long run with lots of confidence it hit me like a ton of bricks. I managed 18km’s but it was no doubt the hardest run yet – the mental battle to finish that run was intense, and it has scared me a little for what is ahead but onwards and upwards!   I am running on behalf of Missing People, an organisation founded in 1993 by sisters Mary Asprey OBE and Janet Newman OBE. Missing People provide specialist support to people who are or at risk of missing, and the families and friends left behind. If y ..read more

Hey everyone, I’m Ella the Global Client Services Manager at Givergy and I’m running the London Marathon in aid of Missing People. Now to provide some background to my running…. ok so there’s no background to provide, I’m not a runner, but 5km to a Marathon in 12 weeks is going to be a breeze right!? I am under no illusion this isn’t going to be even remotely easy, but I have an extremely strong driving force, which is raising money to help the friends and families of those missing a loved one, and to help bring those missing home. The extremely startling fact that someone is reported mis ..read more

We’re vaccinated – now what?

On 3rd March 2020, at our head offices in London, I made a statement which, in hindsight, wouldn’t be described as being ‘of a particularly fine vintage’: ‘don’t worry, guys – two weeks and this’ll all have blown over.’ While confident I wasn’t the only one to underestimate the impact Covid was set to have on every facet of our lives, the flippancy with which I dismissed it still irks me. Since then, I’ve tried to keep my mouth shut. I’m not a doctor, a virologist nor an epidemiologist (although I am a zoologist, if that counts? It definitely doesn’t…), so I figured I’d best leave the predicti ..read more

Over the past 12 months, the non-profit sector has faced its biggest ever challenge. With fundraising events forcibly cancelled across the globe because of Covid-19, charities have had to make an at times uncomfortable shift to the online space. The recently published Charity Digital Skills Report cites that  66% of charities in the UK began delivering all work remotely, whilst 61% have been offering more online services to their database and supporters. The new report by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) also highlights that whilst overall giving in the UK increased by £800m in 2020 com ..read more

Hybrid Events: Are They Right For You?

As we slowly transition back towards normality, what does the future of live events look like?  Currently, most events remain virtual as venues and regulations restrict large gatherings. As more in-person events return, many predict organizations, especially in the non-profit sector, will lean towards a hybrid event model by offering a virtual option alongside an in-person experience. However, the hybrid event model is not a one-size-fits-all. While it may prove advantageous for some, it varies depending on factors such as budget, audience size, and resources. To help your organization de ..read more

Get The Most From Your Host – The Key To Virtual Fundraising
Givergy Blog
by tesswaibel

In the world of live events, it’s a given. Everybody understands the role that a reliable, competent, and [hopefully!] amusing host plays in the success of a gala dinner. They link it all together, keep things bouncing along, and – if you’ve chosen wisely – they will even deliver your auction and fundraising asks as well. In short (and we firmly believe this), an event is only as good as its host, which is probably why the same, familiar, yet down-right reliable faces tend to crop up time and time again. But now, at least for the time being, things are different. Gone is the stage, the spotlig ..read more
