Reviewed by Jen The Mercy Thompson series is one which continues to be a winner for me. Mercy is such a fantastic heroine. I love how her gifts keep evolving, while she still considers herself one of the weakest supernaturals in any given room. But what she may lack in brute strength, she makes up for in smarts and her ability to read a situation. This installment is no exception. In many of the past books, the storyline surrounded a Mercy-in-Danger plot. That’s not so here. There is danger, to be sure, but Mercy is no more at risk than the pack as a whole. Someone is raising zombi ..read more

Reviewed by Debz This is my first time reviewing an Alyssa Cole book. It doesn’t mean that I haven’t read any of her books. I’ve read most of them, but so has everyone else. I’m always last to hear about them, but yesterday, my luck changed and I immediately called dibs. I was sooo excited to read this y’all I’m not even playing. I expected great things and she delivered. This is the 3rdbook in her Reluctant Royal series and if focuses on Nya Jarebi, cousin of Naledi Smith (female protagonist in A Princess in Theory) and Johan, best friend of Prince Thabiso (male protagonist in A Princes ..read more

Review: That Kind of Guy by Talia Hibbert

Reviewed by Sara That Kind of Guy is the third and final book in Talia Hibbert’s Ravenswood series. It uses the fake boyfriend trope but gives it a twist to keep the story from feeling stale and overdone. Zach Davis has learned a lot in the last year or so. He’s learned that the friends he thought he could count on disappeared as soon as his mother got sick, and that there’s a reason being the manwhore of Ravenswood left him feeling empty and unfulfilled: he’s demisexual and only experiences sexual attraction when he has a strong emotional connection with his partner. Now, Zach spends hi ..read more

Reviewed by Ericka I’ve only read two books by this author recently and this one is in a different ballpark than those. I didn’t really know what to expect of this story. It was darker and intense. It is a coming of age story that shows characters that are flawed and strong. The growth was probably my favorite part because I love to see how the characters move on from haunting pasts. Able and Evie’s journey began when Evie was twelve. She was considered the town princess. Able was fourteen and the two developed a friendship. Able was everyone’s villain but Evie saw something else in him ..read more

Joint Review: American Witch by Thea Harrison

Reviewed by Jen & Sara Jen: I am such a big fan of Thea Harrison and her Elder Races series. This is the first book in a new trilogy set in that world and even if you’ve never read one of Harrison’s books before, you can easily jump in here. As made obvious by the title, this trilogy focuses on witches, particularly one who is just coming into her powers. First of all, I love that Molly is an older heroine. She’s around 40 years old and her magical awakening comes due to a major disaster in her life rather than reaching a particular age. That being said, at the beginning, she is still ..read more

Reviewed by Ericka This was a heartbreaking novel that had me at a loss for words. The cliffhanger was no joke as well. However, the good thing about it is that book two comes out in June so there isn’t a long wait. Colby has a mission to not deviate from his goal or dreams. He doesn’t have any time for distractions or allow anything “fun” in his life at the present moment. He wants to be a fighter pilot and is preparing to graduate, Soon he meets Rory at a party. He is standoffish and rude. Rory is beautiful, confident, and determined. It is clear the tension is very thick between the t ..read more

Reviewed by Ericka I could not wait for this book to come out. I love Kylie Scott’s Dive series and the Dive Bar series so much that she has become an auto buy author. Also, I listened to this on audio and it was so much better than I expected it to be. Clementine is recovering from being violently mugged. The aftermath of the attack has her suffering from amnesia. Anything from within the last few years, she doesn’t remember. When someone recognizes the style of the tattoo that she has and the artist, she goes to the tattoo shop to try and find some kind of answers of who she was. When ..read more

Reviewed by Debz It has taken me a hot minute to get back into rereading this book for the umpteenth time just for this review, so sorry for the delay. After reading so many books with espionage, fantasy, suspense and the very intense fear on my part that a character I love would die, I have to take a break and watch a bubblegum drama or read a romantic comedy.  If you’ve read the last two books with me, you would know that the last book ended with Violet, Arianna’s best friend being kidnapped by the Fae and now Arianna, Kade and co have journeyed through the veil to the Fae kingdoms to f ..read more
