TW I need help badly. I am a persecutor in my system and I have been having painful issues. And I am scared of myself, of my thoughts. I am dating a system and one of their littles (a sexual alter) is attached to me in particular. I haven't and don't want to ever harm her or anyone. I have a terrible hypersexual issue and I get aroused when she does certain things. I want to vomit and cry. Please if you don't want this on your blog just say to message you or send me to someone else. I'm begging.

Hey anon, this sounds like a pretty serious issue. I think it would be a good idea to tell the system that you’re dating that you need to take a break from having this little interact with you. Explain what’s going on as best you can, and this will give you the distance to try to sort this out. If you can find another outlet for your intense feelings (like art, or writing, or working out, or masturbation, whatever you think would be a good fit to get some of this intensity out). If you need to talk about it more you can send an ask off anon and I’ll message you from my main. Crisis tolerance s ..read more

I have 2 alters who i feel may be the same person, like maybe fragments of each other, or a subsystem? the second one is a fictive and in canon they were possessed (it was rather similar to being a system actually). the first one is very similar to the spirit that's supposed to be possessing the second one, so is it possible for that one to have formed before the other? and how do subsystems work? how do you know if you have a subsystem if you can interact with them all separately?

Sometimes very similar alters develop, that’s pretty normal. My guess is the first/possession alter formed first but solidified their identity alongside the second/fictional introject alter. Or that the first alter just happened to be very similar to this character from the source of the fictional introject. Idk, how do you feel about it? I’d go with your gut feeling, that’s probably correct. Subsystems are like “a system within a system.” They’re common in large or polyfragmented systems and will typically be separated from the rest of the system by communication, the trauma that formed them ..read more

Do different people have different levels as to what their mind would consider trauma? I've have a lot of gaps in memory (short and long term) but i dont have a big trauma to attribute that to, even though i've had prolonged exposure to a lot of smaller scale "traumatic experiences" and feel my memory stuff might be because of that

Once you’ve knocked out the major medical causes of memory loss (seizures, fibro fog/brain fog, head injuries, drugs or medications, etc) then I think it’s fair to reassess how you’re looking at your experiences. If your memory loss is related to dissociation then it’s a subconscious protection mechanism to distance yourself from something- and therefore, your experiences were worth distancing yourself from. I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss your traumatic experiences. Trauma affects everyone differently and we all have different sensitivity levels to things that bother us. It’s complex stuff ..read more

You played a huge part in us starting to get the help we need, and you're always who we turn to when something is weird or if I don't buy what my therapist says etc. You really make a difference, and I hope you know that.

I'm in therapy and working with psychiatrist as well about my DID... I was under the assumption it's normal to have a DID true system with your alters only having one emotion dedicated to them?

I don’t quite understand what you’re asking… it’s common to have emotions “sealed off” by particular alters but I think fully formed alters in general experience multiple different emotions. Otherwise I think they’d be more like fragments (like emotional parts stuck in trauma responses). But every system is different, that’s just my perspective on it. Best of luck in therapy ..read more

Only sexual abuse causes DID or can other types of trauma cause it as well (like emotional abuse)? The host has to be aware of the altars all the time/be able to communicate with them or it's not necessary? The host can only discover and become aware of alters later in life (when they're a young adult, for example, the trauma still being from childhood)? Can someone be autistic and also a system? Sorry for asking many questions, I am just a really confused bean and want to learn more •o•

You’re fine!Emotional abuse can absolutely cause DID. Many people with DID have histories of sexual or physical abuse but there are also many with emotional abuse as the primary or only form of trauma. Abuse isn’t the only trauma that can cause a system to form. Hosts don’t have to be aware of alters all the time or have communication to have DID. Most people aren’t constantly aware of their alters and communication issues are very common. It really depends on the person as to when they become aware of having alters. It’s different for everyone. I had a lot of “weird symptoms” that I’ve always ..read more

Hi! i think i have a dissociative disorder but i cant tell since im confused and new to this and i feel like im invalid/faking. i show various symptoms of did/osdd-1a, but some are different, such as 1. my headspace and two alters aren't really hallucinations, but i can almost visualize and sense them. 2. i dont hear voices in my head, but i feel like some of my thoughts aren't really mine? i know this blog may not be the most professional, but i can't tell if i'm valid or an invalid faker.

It’s definitely best to get an opinion from your therapist if that’s possible, but I can tell you that in general--Not everyone experiences auditory or visual hallucinations of their alters. I think it was about 1/3rd of people with DID that do. -You don’t need to hear voices to be diagnosed with DID. A lot of people have switching but no direct communication. They might not even know about their alters until someone else notices. “Valid” and “invalid” isn’t really fair to judge. As far as symptomatic systems- there are people with DID/OSDD, people who have enough symptoms of DID or OSDD to be ..read more

Hi, do you know if bipolar disorder can affect only certain alters? I seem to be the only alter that experiences both depression and mania

Bipolar is a mood disorder, so true fullblow bipolar would affect the whole system (because it is caused by neurochemical imbalance). If you have a neurochemical mood disorder, then every alter will have it (though everyone copes differently and symptoms may not present in the same ways). Depression and mania are symptoms though- bipolar is one disorder that includes both, but you may have these symptoms without having bipolar. Or you may have bipolar and your other alters just handle or express depression and mania differently. I hope this makes sense ..read more

One of my trauma-holding alters (E) split during a trauma last year (we'll call it H), and H operates much like a fragment, except it fronts (though rarely) and my psychologist at the time said he thinks H is an introject of my f*ther. H is very violent and sadistic but that's all there is to it really. So idk if we should call it an alter or frag or introject because nothing seems right. I know you can't say for sure, but what are your thoughts?

If it’s just your psychologist saying that I’d be super hesitant to label this fragment as an introject. Fragments tend to be much easier to intergrate… perhaps you could work with an alter (E?) to help calm H? What you call it isn’t that important. If any of those terms feel more correct then go with that, but I’d probably put effort into getting H managed. If H could be integrated into E then that might help you guys out. I probably wouldn’t label H as an introject at all if I were you. Best of luck, I hope you get everything in a stable place ..read more
