Free Pattern Friday is a monthly segment that I used to do on my blog but as my health deteriorated so did my motivation to keep a monthly segment going.  These posts were always really popular and to be honest I really did enjoy writing them so I've decided to bring FPF back! On the last Friday of every month I'll be posting my top 10 favourite free amigurumi patterns I've pinned on my Pinterest in the last 4 weeks. It will be my monthly mission to track down the best and cutest free patterns the internet has to offer. Here is what I've been pinning in May and links to where you can g ..read more

This post contains affiliate links. This design has been in my head for a long time and finally I've been able to bring it to life! I was going for simple, classic teddy bear so I'm quite happy with how he turned out. I asked those of you who follow my Facebook page to name him and by far the most suggested name was "Bertie" - so here he is, and now you can make him too! Read more ..read more

What's that I hear? The sound of wedding bells? I'm engaged! Those of you who have been following this blog for a while may have heard of Tom. The behind the scenes technical other half of Heart & Sew, my partner and best friend. To avoid suspicion, Tom popped the question on his birthday, the 18th of February as he knew that's when I would never be expecting it... I know right? I thought I was the one planning the surprises that day but I got the biggest and loveliest surprise of all. Here's our engagement story! Read more ..read more

Paintbox Yarn Review

"The Candy Shop" Colour Pack This post contains affiliate links. I am a self confessed yarn fiend. You probably are too, don't deny it! I love yarn. Good yarn. I can spend ages picking yarn for a project. Or hours dreaming up the perfect project for a particularly scrumptious yarn or colour. I am also a self confessed yarn snob. I don't use anything but the best quality yarns for my designs, whether they are to be gifted to a loved one or just sitting on a shelf with the rest of my personal project collection. Good quality yarn doesn't have to be expensive. It doesn't have to be a p ..read more

This post contains affliliate links. Meet my giraffe! I've been wanting to design a cutesy, baby shower style giraffe for what feels like forever. I had the idea of exactly what he would look like in my head for so long, I just had to find the perfect yarn and colour selection to bring him to life - and I did! This guy is made in Paintbox Simply Aran, one of my new favourite yarn brands. This yarn was amazing to work with, it's so soft and works up beautifully. Thank you so much to Paintbox & Love Crochet for letting me bring my vision to life with their yarn! Read more ..read more

Ballerina Bunny - Free Crochet / Amigurumi Pattern

This post contains affiliate links. Ballerina Bunny just loves to dance! Due to the popularity of my Ballerina Mouse pattern I thought I'd design a little bunny dancer too! The mouse was the first pattern I ever designed and I have come a long way since then.  This ballerina pattern is totally different to the mouse. The tutu is better, the feet have more shape and she has a little, white pom pom tail! On the whole this pattern is a lot cleaner. I may redesign my mouse with the new improved body, what do you think? Read more ..read more

I'm a happy hooker and I have the balls to prove it! Seriously, I do. Hundreds of them. Don't open my wardrobe unless you want to be snowed under in a yarn avalanche. When I saw this amazing, hand painted shopping bag from Paige's Paintings I just had to have one for my craft store shopping expeditions! Knowing my readers would love one too, the talented artist behind these bags was kind enough to provide another for my little giveaway! Thank you Gemma! Read more ..read more

Hobium Yarns Review

I love being let loose in my local craft store. Seriously, I'm like a kid in a candy shop. I spend hours looking at all the different craft tools and materials, juggling an armful of yarn, sewing kits and felt until Tom puts his foot down and goes off looking for a basket. He eventually gets bored and wanders off to look at model kits or paints (Tom is an excellent painter) and leaves me floating blissfully around the yarn aisles. I love these kind of days out so much that I've never really considered going craft shopping online before. However, when a brand new online craft store called Ho ..read more

Something Old, Something New
Heart & Sew

I have a new look, a new logo and a new attitude. Hello! Welcome to the brand new Heart & Sew. Recently I've made a very scary decision to get serious about designing patterns. Until now I have treated crochet as a simple hobby and have maintained this blog sporadically purely for my own love of designing and writing. I decided (with a little encouragement from Tom) to really try to follow my dreams and turn Heart & Sew into a name in the crochet world. To even think about doing this I had to sort some things that were bugging me about this blog, first and foremost being the design ..read more
