I am just getting started into a new hobby and I thought best place to start is making a simple custom LED strip. I was just wondering as I was following a tutorial and it seems this board is unavailable (3 Piece). Thank you! Original 2nd 3rd submitted by /u/GeneralBroom [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking for red/white strips

I've been searching for, but having trouble finding, an led strip that can switch between red and white light. I want to add an overhead light on the hatch of my camping rig to illuminate the rear area that can switch between white and red light. Id like to avoid rgb and the silly/crappy remote for controlling it - something with a single switch preferably. I can always just install two strips in different colors with independent switches, but I'd rather keep it simple and have them both on the same strip/switch. Any recommendations? Hi all, I am helping a friend find a replacement LED driver for a vanity table. Currently it has a 12v 1A 12w driver. If he replaces it with a 12v 1.25A 15w driver, would that blow the LED? submitted by /u/heatblock [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Right LED strip choice for an art installation

I was searching around a bit and noticed that the amount of different LED strips on the market is quite astonishing and felt a bit overwhelmed. Without too much knowledge in this field I am trying to create an art installation which would require a small bright spot running along the strip over 18m in a very fast pace. This "one shot" happens only every few seconds and should be very fluid (so no single LED spots, preferably 144LEDs/m or sth along the lines. The room where this happens is completely dark but the running LED should light up the room (so the LEDs should be very bright) I would ..read more

LED strip for wooden acoustic panel

Hi, I’m doing some renovations in the living room with wooden acoustic panels. I came across some deco light idea with LED strips, where you put a alu channel with LED strip and a dimmed cover between the wood on the panel. You can see the effect on the first picture with a panel on the wall. I thought can’t be that hard, so I ordered some Govee LED strips because everything comes included for a small price. Now the results are terrible seen on the second picture where you see every LED through the dimmed cover and it doesn’t cover the whole channel with the same brightness. This was my f ..read more

I'm looking to make a training flash grenade that consists of bright LED's that when armed will have a delay of about 3 seconds from pushing a button to setting it off and it lasting for about 2/3 seconds before turning off Are there any small modules you know of that can strobe a row of LED's? submitted by /u/Redemskis [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Need help understanding which part is broken, if any

I just bought an LED strip, power supply, dimmer controller and power cord. I've tried connecting it all together, making triple sure that I'm connecting lines, neutrals and grounds (if any) to the appropriate connectors. When all was connected, it seemed as though only the tips of the led strip was lighting up. I've also made sure that all of the parts are compatible, to the best of my knowledge. Making sure that all of it supports a 24v LED and that the distance of the LED (the watts) are also supported by the PSU. I'm not entirely sure if there is a limit to the wattage on the dimmer s ..read more

How to build LED strip with through-hole LEDs?
Reddit - LED Fun

I want to install a 35-light string of WS2812B addressable, through-hole LEDs behind this wall (unfinished basement behind the wall). Each light will poke through a hole drilled at each red circle in the pic. The LEDs would need to be spaced about 19” apart on the strand. Does anyone build custom strings like this? I’m not opposed to building the string myself and would like advice on materials and maybe examples of how to assemble. Other ideas on how to do this are welcome. Soldering is no problem. Thanks! submitted by /u/AeroSavvy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Ideal 12V Power supply/ battery pack for 2, LEDs with 680 ohm resistors.

I am looking to power 2 LEDs for a T800 Skull print. I have found LEDs with a resistor built in that look to be ideal for this type of application. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience with hobby/individual led wiring and am stumbling on what the best battery pack or power supply would be. I have come across both this battery, and this battery and charger, but think there is probably a more elegant solution in the hobby market that I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/KingNickSA [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is this a constant current or constant voltage driver?
Reddit - LED Fun

This is used to convert fluorescent light tubes to LED, I've come across 50 of them. It doesn't seem feasible or cost effective to use them in the manner intended because they've come out with many alternatives like hybrid and direct tubes. These are for single ended, no bypass. Any ideas how to repurpose these drivers? I'm sure they can be used for something, but what I've no idea. I'm guessing they're constant current drivers. It's a two channel driver, one channel generated 47-48 volts. I'd like to use them in a lighting situation due to the dimmer aspect. Here's a link, but doesn't sa ..read more
