2022 Word of the Year

For the last few years, instead of setting New Year's resolutions, I have picked a word of the year. The word is something I focus on in all aspects of my life - from my marriage, to my self, to my work. I try to choose a word that I know will help improve the quality of my life and make me better. The first year I did this, my word was Simplify, and it was probably my favorite one that I've done.  I finally chose a word for this year: JOY.  This year, I want to do things that bring me joy. I know that sometimes we have to do things that don't necessarily bring us joy, but my goal ..read more

My Favorite Purchases of 2021

Microblading Okay so I technically didn't purchase it because it was a collaboration with the incredible Brows by Tilza, but I was actually going to purchase it, and I would not have regretted a penny. My eyebrows have "finished" my face so to speak, and after years of over plucking and spending time filling them in on a daily basis, not having to do anything but brush the hair is pretty amazing.  Shop Ambitionist Bodysuits Specifically, the boxy tees. I've now purchased them in all three colors, and I wear them constantly. I take them on every trip because they are perfect for layering ..read more

New Year, New... Nothing?

If I'm being honest here, the last 2 years have been nothing but one constant attack on my anxiety and my mental health. 2021 had a lot of shining moments. We got in a really great amount of travel - we explored three new states (and stepped into 3 more) and took some fun trips. We camped as a family for the first (and second) time ever. Eddie and I each hit some professional milestones. Caleb started orthodontic work, and Chloe started ballet. Eddie and I had a much-needed solo trip, and there were countless moments, both good and bad, in between.  But by the end of the year, I felt bu ..read more

Over the last two years, I have intentionally worked to get more reading in. I truly love reading and I didn't like that I wasn't doing more of it. There are times of the year where I don't get as much reading in, but by making it more of a habit than something I do haphazardly, I have managed to increase the amount I read by a LOT. In 2021, I set a goal for myself of 21 books, and I ended up reading 32!  Here are some tips to get you reading more. Keep your reading material accessible! I use my Kindle a lot. I keep it on my nightstand, and I almost always toss it in my purse before I ..read more

5 Things to Do With Your Kids This Week

Since Christmas lands on a Saturday this year, our kids have a whole week at home before the Christmas craziness truly unfolds. I had planned on doing a few activities, but I want to make sure I have a few things to keep them busy in the coming days. Here are a few things I've come up with, and a few things you can do with your own kids to keep them entertained this week (aside from iPads and kicking them out the door to play outside).  Make Homemade Ornaments A dear friend dropped off a gift for the kids, and it was a kit to make DIY cinnamon ornaments. The kids loved this activity and ..read more

This post is sponsored by Nature’s Bounty®. All thoughts and opinions are my own. If there is one thing that I have learned throughout the last few years, it’s to be proactive when it comes to my health and wellness. Watching what I put into my body, getting enough rest and exercise are some of the things I have worked towards improving in the last few years. During the holiday season, it’s definitely more difficult to stay on track with some of these healthy habits! But, I’ve found that it’s even more important to maintain those habits now so, come the New Year, I don’t feel like I regressed ..read more

Thanksgiving Prep Guide

I've hosted Thanksgiving for a few years now, and it's my absolute favorite. I love seeing all my loved ones under my roof, and I think Thanksgiving comes without a lot of the pressure of gifts and overstimulation that Christmas does. Also, give me cranberries and stuffing any day of the week.  A few years ago, I made a little prep guide that I shared on Instagram, but I lost it somehow! I decided to bring it back as a full sized PDF to help you out in your own Thanksgiving prep. Your preparation might look a little different depending on the size of your gathering, or on the amount of c ..read more

There are few thing more stress-inducing for a parent than the holiday season. It's a magical, spectacular season, but somewhere in the background, there is likely a mom on the verge of a panic attack. Over the last few years, I've managed to maintain some semblance of sanity during the holiday season by doing a couple things. The first is to simplify as much as possible. Say "no" to events that you think will be overwhelming for you or your family. Build in downtime. The holidays can be invigorating and fill our hearts, but they can also be over-stimulating and draining. Make sure you are ac ..read more
