If you aren’t aware, weightlifters have some seriously-strong legs. 20-year-old Olivia Reeves recently shocked social media with a triple-bodyweight squat. She’s in good company.
On April 1, 2024, Team USA Junior weightlifter Miranda Ulrey posted her own shockingly heavy 1-rep max. Ulrey, 19, squatted 180 kilograms (396.8 pounds) in training. She competes internationally for the United States in weightlifting’s 59-kilogram (130-pound) weight class. Check it out below:

Since 2016, weightlifting fans all over the world have expected major competitions to close out with a bang. Georgian super-heavyweight and two-time Olympic Champion Lasha Talakhadze, who lifts in the final event of every weightlifting meet in the Men’s +109-kilogram division, has routinely ensured that things end on a high note.

The 2024 European Weightlifting Championships have just concluded in Sofia, Bulgaria, and among the world’s strongest athletes in the competition was none other than 2023’s Fittest Woman on Earth, Laura Horvath.
Just four months ago, Horvath won the 2023 Hungarian Weightlifting National Championship in the 76kg weight category with a total of 215 kilograms:
95-kilogram snatch
120-kilogram clean and jerk (Hungarian National Record)
At the 2024 Europeans, Horvath once again competed in the 76kg weight category and finished with a total of 205 kilos, good enough for seventh place overall.

The 2023 Fittest Woman on Earth® and 2023 Rogue Invitational champion, Laura Horvath, was dominant throughout the 2023 season. In addition to claiming her first CrossFit Games title and successfully defending her Rogue Invitational throne, Horvath took her Olympic weightlifting talents to her home country of Hungary to compete in the 2023 Hungarian Weightlifting National Championships (HWNC) on Nov. 19, 2023, in the 76-kilogram weight class.

Mat Fraser is building a coalition. On Nov. 7, 2022, his organization Hard Work Pays Off (HWPO) Training will launch a new branch of its coaching service called “HWPO Lift.”
Lift is an Olympic lifting-based strength training cycle, with each cycle taking 12 weeks, and is supervised by Team USA Senior International weightlifting coach Aimee Anaya Everett of Catalyst Athletics.

Loading 200 kilograms (440.9 pounds) on a barbell would be a respectable deadlift for seasoned gymgoers, but what about as a press to a squat? On Jun. 30, 2022, U105KG strongman and CrossFit coach Graciano Rubio posted a (very) heavy overhead squat to his social media — a whopping 440.9-pound, or 200-kilogram lift.
Rubio loaded the 200-kilogram barbell onto his shoulders and stepped out of the squat rack while wearing wrist wraps and a lifting belt. He proceeded to behind-the-neck press the barbell overhead and then deep squat the weight in a controlled fashion, ultimately locking it out ..read more

Craig Richey of TeamRICHEY YouTube fame — a channel that covers the current events, athletes, and news in the CrossFit® space — competed at the 2022 British Senior Weightlifting Championships at the Derby Arena in Derby, England, on Jan. 29, 2022.
