Box measuring X, Y, & Z axis

For a box measuring station, I have the basic idea on how to have the depth, width, and height measured. But to do this efficiently over, and over has presented an issue, a tape measure isn't working for every dimension, and it's eating a lot of time. Cutting down on the amount of movements is key. Are there any known procedures, routines, or ideas? submitted by /u/DwightDangerShelford [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

[Recommendations] Gravity Rollers from ~4ft to ground level for pickup area?

We are a small company with 30 or so will call customers per day. Each pickup can be as small as a box of business cards to 50-60 boxes @ 45 lbs each. As you can imagine, this takes a toll on the person moving boxes from waist height tables or carts and bringing them to ground/dock level for customers to pickup at the edge of the dock. Our idea is this: Build carts at a specific height matching the gravity roller conveyors. The conveyors would decline down to dock height and hit a 90 degree turn section for customers to easily pickup at the dock. Right now, we have about 8' - 12' for the enti ..read more

Greetings everybody Does anybody have an easy way to deal with slippy packaging in a warehouse? Lots of damages are being caused by glossy cardboard packaging which has little to no friction so falls out of cages when travelling around the warehouse. We can't get it changed with the manufacturer so I was wondering if anybody knew of an easy solution to increase the friction without damaging the product or some other solution? submitted by /u/ggffws5jh [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Recommended Bluetooth scanners for relatively careless warehouse workers?

Greetings, We're looking to chose new models of barcode scanner (handheld) as we previously went for the "small" approach, but in practice it ended up being a poor choice. We have been using the Tera mini wireless and the result is about 2 broken within a week, and one lose connection after a few seconds. While I'm unsure about one of them being "voluntary" as some of our worker wanted to stay on the old models (hate change, but we have to move forward, the hardware was getting too old and slow), I'm convinced the two that broke down were honest mistake. The users pushed the button too hard a ..read more

Hello All, Looking for some ideas that can go into a new WMS that I am creating. What are some of the things you like or dislike about your current WMS? What are some things you would want to see in a WMS that's not really offered yet? Do you prefer to pay for your WMS as a subscription? Or a full 1 time license deal? Mods please delete if not allow, nothing on the side points that this isn't submitted by /u/zzAdventurer [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What is the best way to organize inventory that has multiple smaller units & individual sku numbers

For instance, we have "KITS" that include other inventory items. Master Kit 1 can have Item A, Item B, & Item C. These items can also be sold on their own. I want to be able to have my merchandise pickers locate these items smoothly, as well as my receivers to put these away in an orderly fashion. I tried doing a table with the Master list on the Y-Axis, and the smaller Item Numbers along the X-Axis, then just have an indicator in the chart where they intersect with each other. I might be way off base but I'm lost. I could use some help on this one. submitted by /u/DwightDangerShelford ..read more

Hello everybody I am currently working at LIDL a German Company as a picker for food and other related items, but my problem is that I am very slow at picking the ideal rate on us would be 200 a hour but I only make 80 a hour I don't want to get fired so I ask you tips on how to speed myself, I have to add that in our warehouse every box is different so you can't just stack them like that without thinking submitted by /u/Uomo94 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I feel like I can change these to improve my DC performance but I'm really stuck now. Basically I'm working for a 3PL company, we don't manufacture, we only receive/pick up parcels and deliver, so our inventory velocity (supposed) to be really high, due to our geographical location, the DC where I'm working receive tons of both transit and picked-up parcels (which need to be sorted according to destination) everyday. Problem: According to data, outbound performance which is based on on-time dispatching (inbound parcels those were received less than 30mins to the nearest dispatch time acco ..read more
