My doc prescribed both Wellbutrin and Topamax to help with my ocd/intrusive thoughts. I should have never read up so much on them bc now I’m scared to take either and I need the help they may provide. Any reviews of these two? I also take a low dose Prozac. Thanks in advance. Keep fighting the good fight. OCD sucks submitted by /u/Dora42277 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've been reading alot on ocd lately and I keep seeing it mentioned that most sufferers have had some kind of bullying, childhood neglect or trauma. I myself have had all three and wonder how many other have as well. Do you agree or disagree and has your therapist/ p doc said anything similar? submitted by /u/kawaiitophat [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

TLDR; my 13 year old stays up extremely late, has panic attacks very frequently, and has become obsessive about the ‘big one,’ any advice would be appreciated. (Before I get comments, he is currently enrolled in therapy to help him through this, and I am purely looking for any additional advice and/or perspectives-Also, if you want to skip the backstory, go to the second paragraph.) I (48m) and my 13 year old son live in the general Vancouver area. Recently, he’s been experiencing extreme anxiety about the ‘Big One.’ For those of you who don’t know, there is an earthquake fault line very clos ..read more

I’m 16f, and recently lost my father to a very aggressive form of cancer. Cancer is extremely common on his side of the family, and it terrifies me to think about it. I was diagnosed with OCD about 3 years ago, and my obsessions usually center around medical things and my own personal health. I was shaving a few days ago when I noticed a mole I forgot I had, and I thought it looked different than what it used to, but I couldn’t remember. I’ve now worked myself up into a spiral and convinced myself I have some type of skin cancer. Does anybody have any advice on how to ease my fears? I just ha ..read more

I'm the only one in my family who doesn't eat meat and I'm very strict about it. I can't touch or have anything lingering or anything, I just don't want anything to do with it but I don't care that my family has it or anything. They're generally not very clean or respectful of my choice though so I get worried being around them when they've had meat. Yesterday, they made a very fragrant spicy indian curry with meat in it in our rice cooker since we only have one. Today my mom made rice in it and either I'm going crazy because I'm so paranoid or the taste/smell/both is lingering in the rice. M ..read more

I’m a 19 year old woman. I just got diagnosed with OCD. He (psychiatrist) called it safety checking OCD. Never in my life has OCD been on my radar. I’ve had various depression and anxiety diagnosis but this caught me so off guard. I’m overwhelmed and I feel like stuff I thought was just a weird quirk I have (things like can’t sleep unless I check the house and closets with a knife) is actually a symptom of mental illness. I’ll be starting medication soon. I’m just overwhelmed and shattered and I somehow feel ashamed even though I know that’s not fair. I just am looking for support or anything ..read more

I 26M have been fighting with my ocd for about 7 years now. The latest struggle is with my own feelings of guilt, self hatred, and just being tired all the time. I fail to support my closest friend so much because im just tired and feel existential guilt towards him all the time. Therapy is no longer working because i just no longer care because i feel like a lost cause. I hate talking about my emotions now because i always feel misery and self loathing. I kinda just want to give up and stop it all. I want to leave everyone in my life and just disappear because all i am is a burden and cause ..read more
