Legacy is extremely important for Égard founder Ilan Srulovicz, who formed the watch company in 2012 with the goal of creating unique luxury pieces made to commemorate life’s defining moments. Watches built to stand the test of time, and be passed down across generations. It all started when Srulovicz designed a watch for his father’s 65th birthday. Now, eight years later, the latest chapter in the brand’s legacy is being written thanks to the new Égard Bermuda Series.   Following three successful crowdfunding campaigns, the Bermuda collection was launched on Kickstarter earlie ..read more

The Best New Watches of 2020: What We Know so Far

Even with COVID-19 rearing its ugly head, the end of April remained busy in the watch world—as was intended should Baselworld and Watches & Wonders (ex. SIHH) have gone ahead in a virus-free world. For the watch reporters this makes for an interesting time. You’ll note that we’ve been quiet here on Watchuseek thus far—this is at least in part intentional, as we weren’t particularly keen on bringing you the same press-released news as every other watch outlet in a world where in 99% of cases, no one has actually seen these watches in-hand. After a bit of pondering, we’ve decided to build th ..read more

Inspired by the brand’s legendary Superman Heritage, the new Superman French Air Force line is part of a collaborative effort, as YEMA teamed up with the French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) to design the timepieces. Community Review: The Nodus Sector Field

We’ve turned back to the community for another hands-on review. This week, our long-time forum member Boatswain takes on the Nodus Sector Field.   Recently I was tasked with finding a simple sturdy watch for a family member that would be intuitive to read, waterproof, and easily wearable in a compact size—oh and affordable too! In short order it was obvious to me, despite my dive watch bias, that the answer was the humble field watch. That successful quest renewed my appreciation of the field watch genre and its simple functional purity of design. There are no gemstones, ratchets, escapin ..read more

Introducing the New IWC Portugieser Collection for 2020

When it comes to new releases, IWC has a policy of focusing its ‘hero’ new models into a single family. Last year was the Pilot’s and this year it’s the Portugieser, and we’ve been treated to a brace of new models. Some of these are incremental upgrades, while others are brand new models.  It’s been a while since the Portugieser got a significant moment in the sun — while we have seen the odd limited edition or update here and there, it was in 2015 when the line last got a significant revamp (and a name change from Portuguese). Before we plot a course for the newest models, let’s do a Cli ..read more

Hands-On: The Moser Pioneer Perpetual Calendar MD Burgundy Fumé

I’ve been meaning to pen this review for some time now, yet in hindsight, taking additional time to digest the Moser Pioneer Perpetual Calendar MD is a good thing for several reasons. Most importantly, it’s a matter of not letting the sparkle and sheen of its visual characteristics distract from a thoughtful evaluation. Moser watches have that effect on people—the vivid color of their  fumé dials is a hallmark of the brand—and 9 times out of 10 a conversation about Moser is either about their dials, or about their cheeky marketing strategy. We’re always taught not to judge a book by its c ..read more

Watch Of The Day: Audemars Piguet [Re]master01

Was it only 14-odd months ago that Audemars Piguet released the 11:59? A watch which caused an expulsion of (mostly unwarranted, IMO) vitriol, going down in history as an ugly benchmark example of internet pack mentality? It turns out it was, and boy, what a difference a year can make. The 11:59 is sold out, and we’ve all got much more important things to be worrying about in our self-isolation. Thankfully that hasn’t stopped Audemars Piguet from offering up some sweet vintage vindication, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that AP has what it takes to make a belting watch that isn’t a Royal O ..read more

Introducing the Stella Felix—the Devil Is in the Details

I’ve noted before that watches coming from crowdfunding platforms have become a real crapshoot of late. So many campaigns look like someone had been playing in the spare parts bin for too long, so seeing the launch of the Stella Felix came as a welcome surprise. The NYC-based firm was spun up by Marcella Dolan and Stephen Rowley, a duo who collectively have a lengthy background in the watch industry, product design, and business development. Their keen eye for good design and appreciation of the watch industry clearly shines through in the brand’s inaugural launch—the Stella Felix. Coming in ..read more
