I'm not someone who enjoys hot sunny days, so these last few days have been very un-comfortable.   I've also been trying to make my Etsy shop better trying to think of ways to make it more attractive to visitors, some sales would be nice! All this attention to other things means I've neglected my blog.   So here is a bit of a catch up on the action. Leftovers, everything in this necklace is from that tray of end of strand oddments.   All these beads had either been dropped and then later picked up but not used, or were the wrong size or had slipped off a strand and hidden in ..read more

My adventures with Chain Maille continues, there are so many weaves to try and each time something about it is a little more complicated.   Every weave improves my skills taking me to new levels all the time.   The first make of each new weave is something I'll keep knowing that the next time it will be better and can be listed in the shop. This, above and below is Alligator back it is a reversible weave with a different look on each side.   The most fiddly weave I've tackled thus far.     A little long this one is going to be shortened by about half an inch.   ..read more

Thursday at Coastal

A silversmith friend recently asked for help with maintaining her online shop, so I said I'd do it.   All the jewellery they sell is made at their beach side gallery, Coastal, in Cleethorpes.    More than that they run workshops, once you done a workshop the next one you can choose what to make.   I wanted a silver and copper ring and arranged to make it last Thursday. When I go there it was to find that 3 other girls where joining in Alice, Mandy and Fay.   We all had a great time and yes I made my ring. Andrea showing Alice how to get her ends nice and smooth ..read more

If you are anything like me you try to stay out of the sun.   It makes me sneeze! as well as turns me a shade of hot pink, not a good look.   Having just got these lovely White Howlite top drilled Marquises gemstones turning them into a necklace was a good idea. I really like this stone it is so smooth to touch it almost feels soft.   As tactile as it is a lot of people use it as a stress buster. The other day I received my first commission, and had to get more copper jump rings in to complete it.   Well the bracelet was made and it's owner is happy with the finishe ..read more

Working with Silver Jump Rings

Made a bracelet and ring for myself.   The weave is European 4 in 1 it is so soft and graceful there are many others and they are often more intricate and pretty to look at but they do not drape so well.   Makes this a favourite of mine, a pleasure to wear. I used 925 sterling silver jump rings.   So different from working with silver plate copper rings, but of course also much more expensive.   Best then just to keep these for me, the ring and the bracelet are both the same weave and metal.   Another reason is, you cannot sell 925 sterling silver that weighs more tha ..read more

Pearls

I like pearls, and this came as something of a surprise to me perhaps it is age.    There is something unique about them their lustre and feel against the skin.   For us hobby jewellery makers the pearls we are most likely to use are imperfect rounds often with their own marks and imperfections from growing in the shell.  This just adds to their charm. Here are some pieces made over the last couple of days.   They can be found as my Easy Shop ..read more

A New Blog

Welcome to my brand new blog, all about my jewellery and selling adventures.   Gem Stones have always fascinated me, Tigers Eye was one of the first to attract me.   The appearance is a natural phenomenon that has drawn people in all down the ages.  As a teenager I had a small collection of stones and tried polishing them with a little hobby kit.    Stringing beads to make necklaces followed and then adult life got in the way. There has always been something crafty going on in my life, be it knitting, paper crafting, drawing and painting.   A couple or 3 years a ..read more
