Robert “Bob” James SchauppRobert “Bob” James Schaupp, a fixture in both Wisconsin and national trucking industries, died earlier this month. He was 95 years old. Mr. Schaupp served as president of LCL Transit and chairman of the board for P&S Investment Company—which includes LCL Bulk Transport, a leading food-grade tank truck carrier. White House announces $1.5 billion to create zero-emissions freight sector

President Joe Biden Wednesday, April 24, announced a goal of creating a zero-emissions freight sector in the U.S. as part of efforts to reduce pollution and improve air quality. As work continues to remove the steel and concrete of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge and open a fourth channel to allow more vessels into the Port of Baltimore, the City of Baltimore has filed suit against the operators of the container ship that struck the bridge during the early morning hours of March 26. A truck driver was shot and killed Tuesday morning, April 23, in an apparent road rage incident. The shooting occurred on Interstate 20 near U.S. Highway 80 in Caddo Parish, which is located in the northwest corner of Louisiana and on the state line with Texas. A statement from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office said the driver of an Acura SUV and the driver of a tractor-trailer had some sort of verbal exchange, and pulled over on the Exit 3 on ramp in Greenwood. Second person dies from truck crashing into Texas DPS office

A 63-year-old woman became the second person to die as the result of a disgruntled trucker driving a tractor-trailer into a Department of Public Safety office in Brenham, Texas two weeks ago. Cheryl Turner was one of six people in the building at the time of the crash who were hospitalized. She died Monday, April 22. The crash occurred April 12 when Clenard Parker, 42, allegedly stole a fully-loaded flatbed tractor-trailer, led police on a chase before leaving the highway and driving the rig into the DPS building. Fire destroys building housing 2 trucking businesses in Pennsylvania

A facility housing two Pennsylvania trucking companies was destroyed by fire early Monday morning, April 22. More than 70 firefighters fought the blaze on Route 309 in Orefield, Pennsylvania, which is located off Interstate 476 about eight miles west of Allentown. The two trucking business located at the site of the fire were OCS Transport Services, and Doctor Diesel. The Houston Community College (HCC) commercial truck driving program recently received a Regional Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) in the amount of $332,000.
