Meet Michael – Intracranial Germinoma
The Gold Hope Project
by thegoldhopeproject@gmail.com

Michael started having left sided weakness, balance, nausea & vomiting, other behavioral changes including tics and slurred speech last summer. We met with a neurologist who ordered a MRI. This showed a lesion. We were sent to a hospital where we spent the next 2 weeks while many tests were done. We were sent home with an autoimmune encephalitis diagnosis and high dose steroids. For the next 3 months the steroids wreaked havoc on his body and his symptoms did not improve. A follow up MRI showed the spot larger. A biopsy was then done which confirmed the brain tumor Germinoma diagnosis in N ..read more

My daughter Aaliyah was diagnosed with lymphoma on October 11, 2023. She developed jaundice and when we took her in they did an ultrasound on her liver and found a mass. Her treatment plan includes chemo and long hospital stays, which are hard on my other children. It has been very challenging in all aspects of our life. She is amazingly strong and a beautiful girl of faith. She has held her head high through this whole process. She’s stayed positive and faith-filled even at the hardest times. Meet Ryan – Germinoma Brain Tumor
The Gold Hope Project

Beginning in about June of 2020 we noticed Ryhan had stopped eating and was losing weight rapidly. However, we thought this was due to him hitting his puberty stage of height growth. He went from being about 5’4″ to about 5’9″ in less than about 4 months. But because of the weight loss he shortly later started to complain of stomach pains and started puking after certain meals. He grew super tired very easily every day. He was always complaining of a headache, and thirstier than anything we had ever seen. He could drink an entire 5-gallon jug of water within 3 hours of waking up. So the doctor ..read more

Maya loves to spend her time dancing, singing, and watching her favorite movies(Trolls, Sing, Luca, Disney Princesses, Miraculous the Ladybug, and Frozen) she likes wearing her princess dresses. Maya was diagnosed with ALL on 02/07/2022. Before that we noticed, she had many fever, bruises on her legs, and tiny red spots around her body. Because of treatment, she can’t go to school, no family visits, we can’t do activities with others, she can’t play with other kids, and no traveling. When she started treatment, the arts & crafts were her escape materials to enjoy her time at the hospital ..read more

Meet Archer – PH+ B-cell ALL
The Gold Hope Project

Archie is an old soul! We often describe him as a 70 yr old man in a 7 yr olds body. He’s very logical and blunt. He’s particularly and a little peculiar. He loves video games, Domino’s pizza, and the color green. Archie laughs the most at poop jokes (perhaps one of the very few “7 yr old” tendencies he has)! He loves his cat, Lucy, the very most! Archie’s only symptom was randomly throwing up every other day for a little over a week, very odd for leukemia. The pediatrician thought it was the flu. My wife’s gut said “It’s more” and took him to urgent care where we learned his white blood cell ..read more

Brennan is a sweet kid with a big sense of humor. His goldendoodle Milo usually makes him laugh. He likes football and playing video games with his dad and school friends. Brennan was a football player before diagnosis. He had pain below his rib a few weeks before diagnosis that we thought was a bruised rib from a tackle. After continuous pain, paleness, and sickness we took him to the doctor for a third time where they did bloodwork that led to a cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2021. Brennan has bone marrow biopsies, several lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, and chemotherapy infusion trea ..read more

Loves animals superheroes and construction vehicles. He was diagnosed with ALL on May 24, 2022. He was pale and feverish for almost a month. They gave him an antibiotic for an ear infection but he was not getting better so they switched and when he still wasn’t getting better, I took him to the ER. I then noticed lumps on his neck. Miles is so kind and loving. He has an incredibly strong faith in Jesus and loves giving and doing for others. He’s an incredible little old soul. He loves building Legos, coin collecting, and playing piano. He always finds a reason to dance! In February of 2023, Miles was having what we thought were sinus headaches from the dusty Arizona climate. The urgent care didn’t find anything wrong, so I took him to the eye doctor. The eye doctor sent us immediately to the ER because his optic nerves were swollen, where we found out it was a brain tumor. He has had three brain surgeries and is currentl ..read more

Eva is tough as nails, very stubborn and determined, but incredibly thoughtful and kind. She loves people fiercely, and always lends a helping hand. Her hugs are the absolute best, and her giggles can improve anyone’s bad mood. Through it all, she’s been so brave and positive, and we are constantly amazed. Eva was diagnosed In April of 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic lockdowns. We feel so lucky to live within an hour of Boston Children’s Hospital and Dada-Farber, where Eva is treated, and we were able to begin treatment right away. After a week of pretty high fevers and a wide ran ..read more
