Dominic is very playful but also mischievous. He fights with the siblings but then can be extra lovable. He is spunky. He is determined and very hard-headed. He is wonderful. Loves animals superheroes and construction vehicles. He was diagnosed with ALL on May 24, 2022. He was pale and feverish for almost a month. They gave him an antibiotic for an ear infection but he was not getting better so they switched and when he still wasn’t getting better, I took him to the ER. I then noticed lumps on his neck. We struggle every day more than others. It’s hard to give all 3 kids their individual atten ..read more

Meet Miles – Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma

Miles is so kind and loving. He has an incredibly strong faith in Jesus and loves giving and doing for others. He’s an incredible little old soul. He loves building Legos, coin collecting, and playing piano. He always finds a reason to dance! In February of 2023, Miles was having what we thought were sinus headaches from the dusty Arizona climate. The urgent care didn’t find anything wrong, so I took him to the eye doctor. The eye doctor sent us immediately to the ER because his optic nerves were swollen, where we found out it was a brain tumor. He has had three brain surgeries and is currentl ..read more

Eva is tough as nails, very stubborn and determined, but incredibly thoughtful and kind. She loves people fiercely, and always lends a helping hand. Her hugs are the absolute best, and her giggles can improve anyone’s bad mood. Through it all, she’s been so brave and positive, and we are constantly amazed. Eva was diagnosed In April of 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic lockdowns. We feel so lucky to live within an hour of Boston Children’s Hospital and Dada-Farber, where Eva is treated, and we were able to begin treatment right away. After a week of pretty high fevers and a wide ran ..read more

Meet Adelina – Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia

Adelina has always been a happy and energetic child. In early 2023, we felt she had never-ending cold symptoms and after taking her to the pediatrician multiple times, they brushed it off as normal. Fast forward a few weeks, Adelina began throwing excessive tantrums in which she would intentionally hit her head against hard surfaces. This led to petechiae & bruising popping up on her face, which ultimately caused concern for us (parents) and we took her to the ER. She was diagnosed with AML on May 30, 2023. Adelina has successfully completed 3 rounds of chemo treatment. Each round has been ..read more

Tyler is strong, a literal angel! He is my Christmas baby and the best present I’ve ever received. He’s courageous and sweet. Tyler was diagnosed with ganglioglioma on 2/26/2020. Before diagnosis, he had unusual eye movements. He has had chemotherapy, surgery, targeted therapy, EKG, and EEGS. We’re limited on travel based on how much oxygen he needs. He uses oxygen 24:7 and is currently bipap most of the day. Tyler has younger siblings and his sister is realizing he can’t play like her cousins can. His dad and I live in worry, but it changed us positively too, we’re happy to have spent and con ..read more

Chana was diagnosed with ALL in December of 2022. Before her diagnosis, she stopped crawling, and walking and kept crying each time from pain. She has had many spinal taps under full anesthesia, 2 months of continuous 24/7 chemotherapy IV infusion, frequent chemotherapy, and blood work. Before her diagnosis, we would travel twice a year to take our kids to the ocean. Since her diagnosis, we have been home and always within proximity to the hospital in case of emergency (which has occurred many times). We finally got clearance to travel with Chana. This is the first time we are leaving our home ..read more

Meet Ethan – ATRT Brain Cancer
The Gold Hope Project

My son, Ethan, was diagnosed with ATRT brain cancer in November 2022. This is a very rare and aggressive type of brain cancer. Ethan was a happy and seemingly healthy 2.5-year-old who was meeting all of his milestones. Suddenly, during the first week of November 2022, he started having trouble walking. He was having trouble with his balance and within a few days was starting to crawl again. This was the only symptom he had. We took him to his pediatrician who referred us for an MRI. To our shock and devastation, the MRI showed a large tumor in his cerebellum and he had hydrocephalus from the f ..read more

Tenzin was diagnosed with ALL just after he turned 8 years old. Tenzin presented with frequent bloody noses, lethargy, vomiting, swollen lymph nodes, and anxiety. The symptoms all came at different times and by the time he was diagnosed, it made sense. He was unable to hold down water the day he was diagnosed so I took him to the ER. He had been to the pediatrician and ER previously and was diagnosed with an ear infection, virus, and then para influenza 3 before diagnosis of leukemia. Tenzin was admitted upon diagnosis to the PICU and then oncology unit. He has been admitted for lengthy stays ..read more

Meet Hendrix – Wilms Tumor
The Gold Hope Project

Hendrix was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor in December 2021. My husband and I noticed bloating in his tummy and his belly button protruding more than normal. For a couple weeks we didn’t think much of it, until the swelling increased mainly on his right side. He had fevers on and off but we attributed the fevers to him recently starting Kindergarten and being exposed to lots of germs at school. He never complained of any pain! Hendrix underwent 7 days of proton radiation therapy to his abdomen and pelvic area, and 6 months on chemotherapy. He had surgery to remove the 17cm tumor from his right ki ..read more

Meet Everest – Wilms Tumor

Everest, our sweet little angel, was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor at age 13 months and had to have her left kidney removed shortly thereafter. She started chemo about 3 weeks after her surgery. She was healthy as we could tell. Meeting all milestones and was growing very well. She was pale and started being more sleepy but the real thing that made us discover the cancer was when I was nursing her to sleep one night, I felt a stiffness in her left side. My heart sank because I feared it was something bad. The next day we had her PCP check it out and she ordered an ultrasound. Exactly 7 days after ..read more
