Use Dynamo to Quickly Transfer Parameters Values in Revit
EvolveLAB - Computational Design and BIM Services
by Chris Woodward

This week, I am working on a model that consists of about 800 panels and this Dynamo script was needed to take a category, in this case it is the curtain panels, and it goes and fetches the original parameter value, in this case the panel material, and then it changes the set panel infill material. This might be useful work around to transfer a project parameter to a shared parameter so that the parameter could show up on the sheet as a label. Where Do We Go From Here - Crossing The Data Driven Chasm
EvolveLAB - Computational Design and BIM Services

By this time most firms have implemented BIM at their firm, but most people are not leveraging data to drive the design of their projects. The economist has just reported that Data is now more valuable than oil. If data is more valuable than oil, what are we doing with that oil? In this talk we will talk about crossing that data driven chasm, an how YOU can start leveraging generative design for your projects. Further we will look at how to leverage D3 technology for physics based data visulaization We will also look at other popular data driven solutions like Galapgos for Grasshopper Abou ..read more

Rhino Inside Revit
EvolveLAB - Computational Design and BIM Services

In this blog, we show how Rhino inside Revit (and Grasshopper inside) can quickly turn native Rhino geometry into native Revit families. We start with a Rhino model with geometry that has been defined in Grasshopper. We then break down that geometry, assign the geometry to native Revit Families - both out of the box and custom adaptive components - and generate those families in the correct place in the Revit model. We then show how the parameters of those families can also be changed, real time, with Rhino inside. To see the whole process, check out the video below. Enjoy! About the author ..read more

EvolveLAB is very excited to bring on our newest design technologist, Chris Woodward! As a design technologist, Chris combines a true fascination with both design and technology to streamline design processes and construct computational design solutions. His interest in coding can be traced back to video games mods. A more rigorous exploration started as an M.Arch Student at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana where he dug deep into Rhino and Grasshopper. Then, while working as an architectural designer, Chris brought this technology interest into world BIM with Revit and Dynamo. Alon ..read more

Join Jake Spasaro and Bill Allen as we unpack the journey of taking a Rhino designed panel system to the field! In this LabLive, we will first discuss converting Rhino geometry into Revit families. Then, using Dynamo, we will automate the creation of QR codes to track our panels through design, manufacturing, and construction. Finally, we will go over the process of using automating sheet creation for printing out your QR codes to be used in the field ..read more
