Google is testing an update to the Pixel Launcher that enables Circle to Search to work in split-screen mode.
On Pixel devices currently, Circle to Search doesn’t work while in split-screen mode.
The feature lets you tap, scribble, or draw a circle over any text or image on the screen that you want to look up on Google Search.
I frequently search the web through Google Search each day, which is why I think Circle to Search is one of the best Android features Google has made in years. If you come across some text or image you want to look up, a ..read more

To the surprise of no one, the Chicago Bears selected quarterback Caleb Williams from USC with the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. Two other quarterbacks followed in the next two picks, with Jayden Daniels from LSU going to the Washington Commanders and North Carolina’s Drake Maye going to the New England Patriots. My living room isn’t well-suited for testing OLED TVs. There’s a pair of large windows off to the side of the viewing area, and when they’re not busy leaking, they’re letting in enough ambient light to wash out a typical OLED. This type of TV excels in contrast and color reproduction but can only pump out comparatively paltry max brightness levels. That makes even a moderately bright room a no-go. And let’s be honest, that’s what most of us have. So, instead of appealing just to ..read more

New promotional images of the Pixel 8a leak ahead of Google I/O event.
It confirms the device’s Tensor G3 chipset, IP67 rating, and other notable AI features.
The Pixel 8a is also confirmed to come with a seven-year security update promise, just like the Pixel 8 series.
The Pixel 8a launch is likely just around the corner as we approach Google I/O 2024, and a new leak spills the beans on what we can expect from the device.
The leak comes from Android Headlines that share additional new renders of the Pixel 8a and its cases in all colors — the Obsidian, Porcelain, Mint ..read more

A cup of coffee in the morning is not just about the caffeine (though that’s certainly important). It’s the ritual that starts the day. There’s the whir of beans grinding, the toasted smell as it brews—even waiting for your finished cup is a part of the fun. It’s time to start creeping toward wakefulness like the sun peeking over the horizon in an old-timey Folgers commercial—all fuzzy and warm and full of promise. Unless that is, you’re out of coffee. Then it’s dull, gray, and cold.
One of the best ways to avoid running out of beans is a coffee subscription. You choose how many times a month ..read more

The Steam Deck may not match all the capabilities of its competitors, but everything it does, it does well. The Linux-based SteamOS works flawlessly with the device, which features two trackpads under the two analog sticks.
The 7.4″ 800p OLED touchscreen model is not only nicer but also faster than the standard 7″ LCD model, with a refresh rate of 90Hz versus 60Hz. The custom AMD processor powering the Deck includes four Zen 2 cores and eight RDNA 2 graphics units, it’s about the same in both the LCD and OLED models, but on the latter it benefits from a newer manufacturing process that allows ..read more

OnePlus has already made the Nord CE4 smartphone official, and it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Today a new leak from a generally reliable tipster brings us the details about the chipsets powering the next two Nord branded devices, because there will apparently be two more coming in the following weeks.
The Nord 4 will employ the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, while the Nord CE 4 Lite will go with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The Nord 4 is expected to be a rebranded OnePlus Ace 3V, a device which launched in China last month, and is also powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.

Enlarge / Tech brands love hollering about the purported thrills of AI these days.
Logitech announced a new mouse last week. A company rep reached out to inform Ars of Logitech’s “newest wireless mouse.” The gadget’s product page reads the same as of this writing.
I’ve had good experience with Logitech mice, especially wireless ones, one of which I’m using now. So I was keen to learn what Logitech might have done to improve on its previous wireless mouse designs. A quieter click? A new shape to better accommodate my overworked right hand? Multiple onboard profiles in a business-ready design ..read more
