Thinking of migrating DB2 LUW to AWS ? AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) is useful for the health assessment & schema conversion . For a deeper dive into AWS SCT use the link below in the useful links section
The AWS SCT tool only supports DB2 LUW as a source , not as a target database. A typical scenario may be AWS SCT DB2 LUW to PostgreSQL migration

Question: I need to report on the sum of disk allocated for Linux directories dedicated to DB2 LUW directories . How can I sum the directories disk allocated ?
I've tried various procedures but the sums arent't adding to same totals that are displayed when df - h is printed
Answer: There's a few different ways of getting to the same total . Here's a simple example of the sum of disk allocated for two directories. In the example below - I'm adding disk allocated for /mydir and /mydir/logs
df -h /mydir/ /mydir/logs | awk '{ alloc += $1 } END {print alloc}'
In this example the directori ..read more

Question: During a change on a server , I had to do a TSA failover as part of testing . For various reasons - outside of TSA - the failover failed. Using lssam - one of the resources - ended up in MemberInProblemState and Failed offline
Both the network and virtual ip resources are in a state of equivalency
How can I fix and reset ?
Answer:
When a resource is marked as failed offline:clear the state and return that resource to normal operation
#resetrsrc -s 'Name =="resource1"' IBM.Application
#resetrsrc -s "Name like 'db2_db2inst1_0-rs' AND NodeNameList in {'MY_HOST_NAME'}" IBM.Applicati ..read more

Question: I've installed the latest security vulnerability patching for jdk on DB2 TASMP clustering - and while running some tests i.e fail over and fail back , I'm getting a Resource Marked as offline.
I've investigated the root cause - and fixed , and now I'm trying to reset the resource back as ONLINE. How can reset the resource?
Answer: Without knowing anything about how the root cause and what steps you took to fix the underlying cause, the typical steps to take is to use the resetrsrc command. This is an example of how you might reset the value . In this example - the failover DB2 in ..read more

Question: I'm familiar with how to monitor swap space usage for processes. There is more detail about the methods I've adopted for using vmstat to check swap in and swap out on Linux swap space and DB2 . How can I check what is currently in the Linux wasp space ?
Answer: Sometimes out of curiosity I like to check what is consuming Linux swap space on a server . Various security type scans always appear to abound on servers and I like to differentiate between ad- hoc , regular processes. The more relevant information you've got - allows better decision making.
