I've been trying my hand at waitressing for a while and can't seem to get better at it. Right now I work in a large Asian fusion restaurant, casual and fast paced. A busy night is around 350 pax. Most sections have around 7-10 tables. When it's mildly busy I can manage fine but when my section is full I start messing up and forgetting orders and can't give enough attention to my tables etc. It does my head in cause I hate failing and it's causing problems at work but I always hit a wall when it's busy. I have the opportunity to start working at a new resort, I have been doing research for a presentation but have hit a wall. I do not know if this is the right place for this (please let me know where if I need to ask somewhere else) I am trying to calculate the viability of hydroponics to grow produce for the restaurants. I've found numbers for average amount grown and the average amount eaten for a 300 room resort annually. Were you positioned at a desk and went thru several tutorials? Did you have an actual manual (guidebook, or online manual)? The youtube videos are short, and hard to see. Did you just learn by watching the other person use the system and you junped in and learned by the seat of your pants? What's the best way to learn how to enter a reservation, perform a check in, an account billing and check out?
