Hi, I need to attach a hardwood piece to a beton tile for maximus strength. What would be the stronger construction looking at this image https://ibb.co/GVv9qTR?
First screw will expand fully within a tile but it does not cover the full length of a tile, while the second screw will be cover full tile length but will be partially expanded outside of the tile.
Or am I totally overthinking this and it makes no practical difference?

Is this what blow in cellulose insulation looks like? It kind of looks like tangled carpet fibers.

I just put an offer in on a house that had room divider walls removed at some point. I didn’t think to look at previous permits until now and I do not see record of this renovation having a permit pulled. Removing walls for a more open plan has been popular for a while and so I’m not sure if I’m making a mountain out of a mole hill as It seems like everyone is doing it. Are these walls typically non load bearing? The first picture shows the two walls that use to be there (now just knee walls). The second picture shows the wall perpendicular to the removed ones which goes from one end of the h ..read more

My shower started leaking into the wall, and upon investigation I noticed that the seals where the glass attaches to the frame are eroding (see picture).
I'm going out of my mind trying to find a replacement. Where can I find the simple rubber strip that the glass sits in for the frame?

What do you think about moving laundry to the garage?
There is a small room off the kitchen with laundry, pantry, and sink. I’d rather have a butlers pantry and make a nice laundry space in the garage with a utility sink. Wouldn’t have to worry about freezing pipes. It’s a new build so would be a clean space.
Would this hurt the resale value of the home?

I am planning an addition to my garage on the gable end. The addition will be 2’ taller and 4’ longer so the roof lines obviously won’t match. My plan is to build the garage and then remove the gable end wall from the old part of the garage to create one large open space on the interior. The existing garage is a truss roof with gable trusses on the ends. My question is; how do I need to support the gable end truss once the wall is removed? The truss will be butting into the small sidewall of the addition, so could I merely nail them together?

I thought I had a foundation issue til I trailed the steady wet stream to none other than what I will describe as, without technical terms, the on off valve to the water in my home
To be clear, this is the valve inside of my home, not the outdoor hose Valve is located in the front of the home but inside the basement and interior. It’s leaking from around where the spout comes through the cement. is this an easy fix? What can I do to fix this? Who should I call a bigger issue with water not finding its way away from the house and just seeping in through this tiny hole? Aren’t these things supp ..read more

We recently had a pinhole leak in one of our walls, and have since had it remediated. Drywall, torn out and a good portion of the floor and one room torn out as well. The room still smells a bit musty, but I chalked that up to everything being exposed in there. Supposedly we had an all clear after an air test.
All that said, I walked in there today and noticed this on the ground. Looks to be mold? Anyone have any idea what this could be or why would be showing up after we had a full remediation done?
