Family Room Refresh
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation

I'm not one to change things around in my house all the time, although I do like to freshen things up every few years. Our family room is one area that hasn't changed a whole lot since we bought our house 6 years ago. I used many of the pieces I had in my old house and the only new thing I bought was the 2 swivel chairs which were needed to fill out the smallish space we have. I also worked with a brand along the way and replaced a side table and lamp in here, but it was time again to do another refresh since I had the same rug and tables/lamps for many years now.  I'll show you the room ..read more

How We Added a 1/2 Bath in the Basement
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation
by Rhoda
10M ago
Since we finished the pool last year, one of the projects we wanted to do was add a 1/2 bath to our basement. We've been working on cleaning out the basement, getting it organized for the last couple of months. We're making progress, but have a bit more to go. Mark had a storage area with all his boxes stored in there and we knew the basement was stubbed already for a bathroom, but when he moved his shelving around in there and got rid of more things, it opened up that storage area where the furnace is located and allowed us to go ahead with the 1/2 bath project in the basement. We knew havin ..read more

Adding Brick Wallpaper to the Hallway
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation

We liked how the faux brick wallpaper in our bedroom looked so much that we decided to add it to the wainscot wall in the hallway too! We love it! I know this look might not be for everyone, but we like it in our house. So let me show you how it turned out. It didn't take that long to do and we did it in one afternoon, finishing up as it was getting dark outside. Daisy, of course, was there at every step. If you missed the earlier post I did on our bedroom wall, check out out, faux wallpaper. This is the same Woodchip & Magnolia wallpaper we used there. This is not a sponsored post, but w ..read more

Installing Artificial Turf Grass
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation
by Rhoda

Since we had artificial turf installed in our backyard around the pool, I thought you all might enjoy seeing the process of getting it done and looking great. Artificial turf is not inexpensive, but it is a great solution to a pool area that you want to keep clean. Having real grass around a pool creates issues we didn't want to deal with, so we are so glad we were able to get this installed by the pros and now we have the pool of our dreams. We thought about a minute that we might try to install it ourselves to save money, but after looking at what goes into this process, we didn't dwell on ..read more

Backyard Pool Build in GA
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation
by Rhoda

We have a finished pool and backyard landscaping is complete! It's a banner day around our house for sure, as we come to the final chapter in our backyard pool build. Since this was our first time building a pool, neither of us had any experience with the process and it's quite a challenging project to take on. You have to have patience, determination, a somewhat open pocketbook and a real hankering for a backyard pool to make this dream a reality. We are so glad we are finished and we are so thrilled with the outcome! It felt like the end would never come, but from dig to finish, it took 3 m ..read more

Pool Progress: Shotcrete is Done!
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation

Putting in a pool takes a lot of patience. You certainly cannot get in a hurry with this process. There's a lot of waiting. This is the first time either of us have gone through this experience and it's quite interesting to see the process and how long it takes. It may be longer now, due to the fact that so many people seem to still be installing pools in their backyards. We've been told by some of the guys doing deliveries that they've never seen so many pools going in.  The post Pool Progress: Shotcrete is Done! appeared first on Southern Hospitality ..read more

As we are winding down the year and as I always do at this time, today I'm sharing all the projects we did around our house and what we accomplished during the year. We usually get quite a bit done during a whole year and this was no exception. We had a few room makeovers, some DIY projects, and overall home improvement and it's fun to look back with pride on what we managed to get done this year. There weren't any huge room renovations, but we did manage to get a few things finished this year.  The post Top Home Projects 2021 appeared first on Southern Hospitality ..read more

New Office Guest Room with Trundle Bed
Southern Hospitality – House Renovation

I finally got the new office/guest room mostly done and photographed, so I'm excited to share it with all of you today. I'll do a disclaimer on this room since I know from a few comments I've gotten when I shared progress on Instagram that not everyone will like my design style and how I've put it all together. Some will think I put way too much furniture in here and some won't like the drapes and wallpaper together. That's all fine! I am confident in what I like and I love it, so I hope you enjoy it too. It has a lot of my favorite things! Keep in mind that as I usually do, I use some t ..read more

Many of you have been with me since the beginning of my blog and especially when I bought the fixer upper house I lived in before Mark and I got married. It's been a fast 9 years since I bought this fixer upper house. It sure doesn't seem that long ago and yet, it does. Time goes by so fast these days and the time has come to sell it. The market right now is hot hot hot and now is the time to sell and take advantage of this market. The post Selling the Fixer Upper House appeared first on Southern Hospitality ..read more
