MASScot’s education project has allowed us to talk to 17,000 children about #SunSafety. As we’ve seen over the past few months, these sun savvy kids are also talented artists, and we love sharing their colourful creations with you.  Today we want to say thanks to Ingrid and Julia from Bearsden Academy for laying out this important message. UV Rays are dangerous for one thing – for another, they don’t make you any prettier in the long run! Let’s ditch the sunbeds and get a #FakeBake for the weekend.  Thanks again girls!   ..read more

Let’s talk about behaviour.  An extremely large number of people who know the realities of Melanoma are readily and regularly performing skin checks and visiting their doctors.  Many, however, do not expect skin cancer to affect them at all. MASScot wants to encourage a pro-active approach to potential Skin Cancers, as early diagnosis is absolutely key to survival. We can learn a lot from people’s initial reactions to the skin abnormalities which turned out to be Skin Cancers – if we notice this behaviour in ourselves, maybe we will think twice.  Confronting Skin Cancer is ..read more

During this weekend’s event, we had some interesting conversations with members about changing attitudes to tanning beds since the 1970’s.  We talked about how it’s important to understand the risks haven’t always been as apparent as they were.  However, some still use sunbeds as part of their routine –  so widespread education is still essential. Here we are at Tesco St. Rollox, bringing the public’s attention to the statistical link between sunbed use and skin cancer.   We take our efforts to change attitudes and legislation regarding sunbeds extremely seriously. &nb ..read more
