My favorite memory of old time Candy was walking from church on Sunday to the little store that was about a half block from church. The store was in the front room of the owner’s house. It was stocked with penny candy! I loved the shoelace licorice, the root beer barrels, Swedish fish, and the ice cube chocolates. Back in the early 60's we grew up on a small farm in Oklahoma. Money wasn't easy to come by back then and candy was even harder to come by. But I remember dad giving me and my brother a nickel on Fridays to take to school. Our school was a small country school and there was a little store across the creek from it.
