I am not a drummer by any means. I think Hotel California has a pretty solid drum arrangement. Nothing too flashy but some pretty cool fills.
I had a question about the drums/percussion used in verse 5 that directly follows the second chorus. (Mirrors on the ceiling…) At the end of verse 5 after the lyrics “But they just can’t kill the beast” there is a drum fill that leads into verse 6.
Does anyone know what instrument was used for that? I have always thought it was timbale drums because of how they sound, but they could also just be toms.
I’ve seen a few live videos of Hotel California that ..read more

My drummer went to goodwill today and sent me the first picture. Told me the whole package was 80 bucks. I, as a drummer as well, immediately saw the pearl logo on the bottom and I told him to pick it up for me. 80 bucks for all of that is a steal anyway. I asked him to send a picture for inspection of the cymbals….fuckin jackpot babyyyyyyyy

Here is my final take of a song called Charade by Max Cooper aka @mrpianoman on TikTok. I’ll post it with the track when it’s done so you can hear the song but I thought this might be interesting for discussion. This session was old school. The artists and producer worked together to sculpt the parts we were all playing and I made notes as we went and built the part into what you see here. We didn’t use a click, and tracked piano, guitar, and drums in one take. My part will not be comped from multiple takes as is common these days. So, in this situation I just got to play the chart down a ..read more

Just got my first K cymbal (21” Sweet Ride) to go with my quick beats and vintage 18” crash (transition stamp). So far I’m loving it.

Got these to use for a pop country cover band. Bought for $650 from reverb. Delivered in two days. Came sealed in original box, not even a fingerprint or scratch to be found. Can’t wait to make some beautiful noise with these!

Just curious what the average is here. Generally on a song I know very well, I'll miss about 2 notes. Like, oh I didn't do the extra eighth note in that bar, or something similar. Nothing game breaking.
Is it realistic to expect to play it exactly the way you want almost all the time?

This is what I'm practicing with while I wait for my shell pack and a few other things. Really I'm just trying to figure out the new double pedal. It's infinitely adjustable, so I'm working on dialing it in. My cat's name is Mad Max.
