I just need to scream this at the world, just so someone hears me. Sorry in advance. My (55f) spouse (57m) is making me crazy! We have opposite schedules as far as days off so someone can care for his father. On the days I work, I sit quietly in the dark, drink my coffee (s) and re-fuel my nicotein addiction. I tip-toe around so I don't wake anyone up. I shower and get out of the house quietly. I don't even turn my headlights on all the way until I've turned my car around and the lights are past my fil's bedroom window. Spouse, on the other hand, gets up, flips on every light possible, rummag ..read more

I used to…..

I used to travel alot for work before I become a full time dementia caregiver… I traveled all over the world and throughly enjoyed my freedom and independence…. I feel like caregiving is the opposite of traveling. Everyday is the same miserable routine.. only broken up sometimes by a massive poop cleanup….. I guess life has its highs and lows… and this is one of the lows… submitted by /u/johnkim5042 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Feeling crushed right now

This may be a long post because I have no one to talk to about this, and I feel like I'll explode if I don't put it out somewhere, so I'm sorry in advance. Tldr- my grandma's dementia is crushing my soul and I feel on the edge of a nervous/emotional breakdown and really just need to get it out. I've been taking care of my 95 year old grandma for over 15 years now. No other family is nearby or wants to help. My grandma was finally diagnosed with dementia recently, the doctor says it's at the high end of moderate, almost to severe. I'm not sure exactly when the dementia started, but the last co ..read more

So I’m already stressed after going to the initial financial meeting because they really harped on me for some things that I had no control over when my mom was living half way across the country in another state by herself. I was honest and told them she got ripped off and sold her car for $800 vs. $3000+ before I could fly out there and help her. They asked me several times who she sold the car too and what she did with the money. I told her I had no idea and that she told me she needed the money at the time. I only knew from what she told me on the phone. And that was all I knew. They aske ..read more

My grandmother is in her early 80s and by my research is ongoing 2nd stage? but the research paper only had 3 stages: 1st. the beginning, stuff you dont notice 2nd. Confuse people but rather go with the flow to avoid stress 3rd. they forget how to breathe Sometimes it gets so so stressful, that sometimes i wish she just forgot to breathe already. This changes nothing, but I'm ND and her decline happened just as my mom was recuperating from a severe TBI. I'm the main caretaker of my mother (who can drive thankfully) + my grandma + a job. I do feel awful about this. TLDR; I sometimes wish my gr ..read more

Help finding home care

I'm at the end of my rope trying to find information online about where to get home care for my grandma who has dementia. My mom is taking care of her as best she can, but it's not enough and it's getting so hard. My grandma really needs someone to be with her a couple hours every day to help her eat, cook meals, help her use the bathroom, etc. I looked on the Medicare site and thought I'd found that they covered it only to email and call a few places recommended on their site to find the didn't. Does Medicare not cover this? Should I be talking to my grandma's private insurance? Otherwise th ..read more
