Row New York is proud to present its first USRowing-sanctioned event, the Meadow Lake Masters Regatta, on June 10, 2023 in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. The event is poised to cement its place in history as the first Masters rowing race to take place on Meadow Lake since it was completed for the 1939 New York World’s Fair.  Rowers are invited to assemble a team or join as singles to compete in a 1000m sprint on Meadow Lake. Youth Rowing This summer, our varsity season began on the beautiful Connecticut River in New Hampshire for a week-long visit to Dartmouth College (Click here to learn more about our trip to Dartmouth). This week of exploring college rowing set the tone for a summer full of gains in strength and speed. Once our varsity team returned home, the varsity and intermediate squads trained in small sculling boats. Summer Learning and a Taste of College Life

School’s out, but our athletes continue learning. Our Student Success and Support Team led a summer full of activities to prepare our athletes for the upcoming school year and future college journeys.   Dartmouth College Trip July 5th-10th | Hanover, New Hampshire Row New Yorkers spent a week on the Dartmouth campus rowing, attending college seminars, meeting college coaches and students, and living in the dorms. It’s been a busy season! We’ve competed at the following races and scrimmages:  Rockland Rowing vs. St. Anthony’s vs. Row New York April 9th | Rockland County, New York Row New Yorkers took an early and beautiful ride to even-more-beautiful Rockland Lake for a friendly scrimmage with local teams. The weather gave the rowers practice in all racing conditions: wind, sun, heat, cold, rain, and even hail! This fall, Row New York youth athletes put in some serious work. Besides their usual practices, tutoring sessions, and college prep, our athletes erged daily, completing hard pieces weekly and sometimes by moonlight. Charley Sullivan Vice President of Rowing Charley Sullivan, our new Vice President of Rowing, has spent the last 30 years coaching mostly in small college towns, building some of the fastest programs in the country. The Meadow Lake Challenge took place on a beautiful Saturday morning in June. It was the first time this year that we joined our different pods and programs for an event.  The event was a tremendous testament to the commitment of our staff, youth, and families. This summer at Row New York, our youth and community programs are back on the water. Our youth are participating in academic and wellness workshops, and our seniors are starting their college applications. It feels so good to be back! Novice Rowers Learning the ropes This summer, some of our athletes are learning to row for the very first time! We’re so excited to share the sport with our new teammates.
