This week coming up is definitely one of my favourite times of the year - Holy Week! We have planned many activities that focus on Easter (religious and non-religious) for our students. We will be making these beautiful Easter cards for our families using a technique where marbles are rolled around in paint. This is our craft - a simple Easter cross with gems. We will be listening to many Easter stories including this book, Benjamin's Box, which is one of my favourites! We use Resurrection Eggs to retell the story. It's always a hit in our class! We will also be reenacting the ..read more

We are back from our March Break trip to Mexico and I'm not going to lie...after a week away in the sun doing just about nothing but snorkeling and sun tanning, this week may be a little rough! HA! Good thing we planned some quick and easy centres before we left to help everyone (educators included!) with the transition back to school. We will be welcoming spring on Tuesday this week so we set out a bunch of activities! I'm going to be reading the students the story Mouse's First Spring on Monday (see my plans below) and then they can retell the story on the felt board. I made these cut ..read more

This is the last week of school before we head into March Break for a week.  We are also heading on a half day field trip so we decided to keep things a little simple! We are heading to the Kortright Centre for their Maple Syrup Festival later this week and I couldn't be more excited...I LOVE maple syrup! We set up a simple invitation for students to draw what they see/think/wonder about maple syrup at the Science and Discovery Centre. We will be reading these books, as well as watching a fun video also! Check out my plans for more! St. Patrick's Day falls during March Break so we deci ..read more

Happy Family Day long weekend! I hope everyone is relaxing and able to spend much deserved time with their families! This week coming up is a short one (and somewhat less chaotic than the past few weeks! LOL). We finished our Lunar New Year dragons that we started last week and put them on display. Look how beautiful they came out! We also started our Lenten Chain last week - each day throughout Lent we will be removing one link and trying that challenge! Each week we will be focusing on lessons and activities from my Lent & Holy Week pack if you wish to follow along ..read more

This is going to be (yet another!) busy week ahead! We have our Book Fair, Shrove/Pancake Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day all within a few days of each other! Here's a look at our centres this week: Our poem is super fun this week - with a focus on pancakes! After learning it, students will partner up and get 1 bean bag (or "pancake"). As we chant the poem and say the words "toss a pancake", one partner will throw the "pancake" to their partner who will try and catch it! Then they switch! It's a lot of fun! This squishy pancake was gifted to me by Ms. B. a few years ago and I alw ..read more

I set up this retell centre at the Felt Board. All of my poems are from my Rhyme & Chime (Poems for the Whole Year) pack. We will also be making Valentine's Day cards to give to our families! They are very simple - we will ..read more

Our Arctic Inquiry is off to a great start! For the past few weeks, students have been very interested in playing and learning about all the different Arctic animals. So we formed research groups last week and will begin looking through books and checking out websites to help us gather more information. I did an Arctic inquiry several years ago if you'd like to read more about it and download these research papers for FREE - Click HERE.   Here's a look at our centres this week: Can you build a trap for the snowman? Let's explore magnets in ice! We froze ice cubes with small magnet pi ..read more

It's been a smooth transition back after the Winter Break for us! The students have been loving the new centres and activities available, specifically playing with the Arctic animals. We heard lots of wonders about these animals, and where they live, that we decided to investigate this topic further! Here is the beginning of our Arctic Inquiry! We set up these small plastic animals, along with several books, at our Science and Discovery Centre. Can you build an ice castle for Elsa and Ana? Can you solve a pentomino puzzle? These were a free download from Math Equals Love. We set out thi ..read more

Happy new year!!! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! I took the two weeks to relax and spend time with family, limiting my time on social media and this blog to really clear my head for a short time. It was wonderful! I'm back and wanted to share some things we will be doing to ease our way into, and celebrate, 2024! There are so many wonderful stories to read to students about the new year! One of my favourites is Squirrel's New Year's Resolution by Pat Miller. After reading this story, we discuss what a resolution is and brainstorm a few of our own. I modified this activity I did a ..read more
