One of my favorite weeks of the year is fast approaching! I LOVE Read Across American week! Our school celebrates the whole week with lots of fun dress-up days! Here is our schedule for this week: I'm working on a few shirts to celebrate this week! I'm doing something like this for my daughter and her BFF (except in gold glitter): I am also thinking about making these shirts for my daughter and I: I love using my Happy Birthday Silly Cat unit during this week:   These are the centers we use throughout the week. On Thursday (March 2nd) we have green eggs and ham, make a ..read more

Wow! That's about all I can say! I haven't blogged since May! Where does time go? In all honesty, I haven't read many blog posts in a long time. I'm on facebook and mainly instagram A TON, but I just don't ever seem to have time to blog (or read blogs). I'm usually not one to do new years resolutions, but I have a few this year that I'm going to try! In my personal life I'm going to TRY to: 1. Keep a checkbook register.  Yep....that's right. I don't. Like I have no concept of money. No budget. Love to shop. It's bad. I occasionally get online and check my account (that I pay our mortgage ..read more

Transitioning to Kindergarten

The end of the year is filled with so many emotions for me. Thinking of my kinder babies leaving me is so bittersweet. I am sad to see them leave me although I am looking forward to my summer. At the same time I am enjoying those last few weeks with my class, my mind is also on my incoming kindergartners. Our school has always been great at doing transition activities to make it easier on our new kindergarten kids. We want them to feel comfortable with us so that 1st day of school is happy and very few tears are shed. We also want to get to know the kiddos so we can make class lists that are a ..read more

My Favorite App

It has been awhile since I posted, but we are going full steam on our 1:1 ipads in the classroom! They LOVE them and so do I! I thought I would begin with my favorite app and it's a freebie!!!! The app that has really changed our classroom is.... SHOWBIE!   It is a great app for going paperless in your classroom. (Our upper grades are using Google Drive/Google Classroom but there are some restrictions for primary using it, so I had to find another way to achieve this goal). Now....I have to state my feelings toward a totally paperless classroom. I'm not a fan. I think it is SUPER import ..read more

Last week I attended the French Lick Blogger Retreat. Y'all. Words can't even explain how great this trip was! I am so excited to recap my weekend with you! I am so fortunate that French Lick is only 1 1/2 hours away from my town. I left on Saturday morning and was there in no time! I have never been to French Lick and it is an adorable little town. (Once you get there...a little sketchy on the drive in...not gonna lie.) I'm gonna be honest. I was seriously star struck. I'm about as talkative as they get...but I clammed up something crazy when I saw some of these bloggers/sellers. Look at th ..read more

I'm SOOOO excited!! The Spring Blogger Meet-up is THIS. WEEK!!! As in Saturday! Eeek!!!! I am SUPER excited. I wanted to go so bad last year but didn't have the guts to do it. I "know" so many people from their blogs but don't really "know" them. I am so glad I did it this year and am really looking forward to it!!!!! In the  meantime, this week I am also headed to a technology conference Wednesday-Friday. I am excited about this since I am now a 1:1 classroom, but I hate being away from home. Like I don't like to leave my girl. I will quickly get home Friday, see baby girl and hubby a ..read more

I don't share a lot about my personal life on my blog. I get a little freaked out by social media and how much people can really find out about you. I have mentioned before on my blog that I was a Type 1 diabetic, but haven't gone into a lot of detail. Today was another big day for me in my health journey, so let me give you a little background information. WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST! I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 27. There are 2 types of Diabetes. Type 1 and Type 2. Most people associate Type 1 diabetes with "juveniles" because it was once called Juvenile Diabetes and ..read more

We are so excited about our 1:1 classroom!    Before I gave students the ipad, I did my best to get them student friendly. I created backgrounds to match my classroom decor. This background is the home and the lock screen. Each student is assigned a number and they know how to click on the ipad to assure that it is theirs. (The belkin storage I bought is numbered 1-10...so they know exactly where to place their ipad for storage.) I also placed all apps in a folder (reading, math, stories, coding) and the most frequently used are at the bottom. We began by practicing how to turn t ..read more

We are 1:1

I am SUPER excited to say that my classroom is now 1:1 with ipads! Eek! I still cannot hardly believe it. We are beyond excited and I am excited to share my findings with you! Our district began the 1:1 push a few years ago. You could apply for a grant and share how you would use these in your classroom and 1 classroom would get the devices (whatever device you preferred). Well...I didn't even apply. Now, I am fairly tech savvy. The longer I teach the more I realize I'm not NEAR as tech savvy as these young teachers right out of college, but at my school...I'm considered pretty tech savvy. No ..read more
