I can fall asleep fine but can't sleep longer than 5-6 hours so I am always sleep deprived. Does anything help with this?

How do I fix this and why do you think it would be happening? I have a lot of anxiety and I think that could potentially be affecting me but it's fairly recent that this has been happening. I just want to sleep in so that I can get some good sleep. I'm exhausted all the time. Does anyone have any tips or info on this? submitted by /u/leepsybotro [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Damn. Mirtazapine has me paralyzed, figuratively.

Tried hydroxyzine, doxepin, melatonin, nyquil, rozerem, seroquel, benadryl, zyprexa. None of them made me tired or put me to sleep. This works maybe too well. I took 7.5mg and even 12 hrs later I fell like I can't even move. Sleep is better than no sleep though. It also gave me the feeling of "being tired" my brain seemed to have forgot. And no idc about dependency or weight gain slowly over time. Sleep is more important. submitted by /u/cantsleep01 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

About staying asleep

Good evening I have been diagnosed with ADHD and am currently taking 10mg of atomoxetine. However, when I take atomoxetine, I can process tasks more smoothly, but my insomnia at night gets worse. Specifically, I used to wake up in the middle of the night so bad that with BZD and torazodon I could barely sleep for 3 to 4 hours, but now it's only 1 to 2 hours. (I have no problem falling asleep, but I do have a problem with waking up in the middle of the night.) I'm also considering TCA, as increasing noradrenaline will suddenly widen your field of vision. In this case, I would like to know if t ..read more

Low Melatonin but issues with supplementing it?

I did a Dutch test about 8 months ago that revealed a very low level of melatonin. Since I’ve notoriously struggled with staying asleep and getting quality sleep at night, it didn’t surprise me. Rarely any problems falling asleep though. I started taking 2-3 mg of a methylated melatonin dropper before bed, and it’s making my sleep quality worse. I’ve noticed that my deep sleep quantity has reduced and I’m dreaming vividly all night and waking up often. I’ve tried supplementing with more melatonin, taking it different times during the day, and nothing seems to help. I usually give up on taking ..read more

How to get out of this cycle? getting better than getting worse

Will try to sum this up quickly. my insomnia is sleep anxiety related. Basically one bad night turns into a vicious cycle because I’m scared of not sleeping. Started in dec 2022. was absolutely terrible for 1 year. prescribed a bunch of meds but only seroquel worked (12.5mg -25mg). Learned a bunch of acceptance/mindfulness techniques, tried to develop a healthier relationship with sleep, tried Valerian tea (kind of worked). Basically i thought 2024 was the year that my sleep was going to get better. But I’m now stuck in a cycle of having decent sleep every 1.5-2weeks, then having an absolutel ..read more

How do you respond to providers or everyone else who assume insomnia = mental health problems

I will flat out say I do not have underlying mental health problems. Everyone wants to put a label on everything. You are organized does NOT mean you have OCD. It means you are not a fucking slob. Being energetic does NOT mean you have ADHD. It means you are energetic. The list goes on. I am sick of going to my providers and saying I have insomnia and being told / asked "What is the problem, is it anxiety or depression or ___". Nope. I have insomnia. I don't lay in bed thinking about anything other than "wow I cannot get to sleep". submitted by /u/Legend27893 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
