Team Sunderland pair Tee Cheng Bin and Lee Randy Chen Wan advanced to the Round of 32 of the BUCS Individual Championships at BUCS Nationals this past weekend.
In their first match, they won the first game against Cardiff Met 21-17, although the second one ended much tighter as Sunderland threw away a 20-16 lead as Cardiff brought it back to 20-a-piece. This meant that the game had to be won by two clear points and in the end Sunderland won the game 23-21.
Cheng Bin and Chen Wan would then go on to beat a Plymouth pair by two games before a bigger challenge arrived in the form of Essex.

Tee Cheng Bin and Lee Randy Chen Wan started their journey to the Round of 32 of the BUCS Nationals after a straight set victory over Cardiff Metropolitan University.
The University of Sunderland pair came through a closely fought encounter, winning the first game 21-17 before edging out a nail biting second game 23-17 to beat Gareth Lau and Ben Wooding.
Cheng Bin and Chen Wan came into the game knowing only a victory would secure their passage into the next round of the competition.

Team Sunderland athletes competed in the opening Badminton and Field Athletics events at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport on Friday as the 2020 BUCS Nationals got underway.
Wilson Ngie Ding sustained his levels superbly over two days to secure a place in Saturday’s Men’s Badminton Singles Last 16.
A gruelling Friday saw him progress through the Second, Third and then Fourth stages with three successive straight set victories (21-10, 21-10; 21-11, 21-7; 21-17, 21-15).
