Where to find power on Cross-Country Fishing Trip

In a couple months I’m moving across the country, and in doing so I’ll be bringing my canoe, trolling motor, and a bunch of fishing stuff to fish in as many waterways as I can. I’ll be staying in campgrounds nearby the lakes I go to, but will need to charge my trolling batteries. Any ideas where I can find power to do so? Do campgrounds typically have power outlets? If not, where would you do it? Takes on average 8 hours to trickle charge a battery, so if I bring 3, I should be able to charge one per night while using the others during the day. Thoughts/Recommendations? Thanks. submitted by ..read more

32 nights in Africa: update + questions

Well guys, I bought the tickets, so the dates are official. Here are the updates: I added three more nights, two in Free State to ease driving between Bloemfontein, Durban, and Joburg, and one in Mpumalanga to allow myself a full day to drive the Long Tom Pass/God’s Window/Three Rondavels corridor. I will drive the Montagu Pass between Oudtshoorn and George, I didn’t know this existed when I first posted this route. I still have some questions: Photos 2, 5, 6: I want to redistribute a night from Joburg because I am not ready for 3 nights in Gauteng. Should I spend a night in George or ..read more

East Texas Road Trip Advice

I'll be looking for a route to take this May while leaving Houston & heading to Dallas area. I'll be leaving Houston area likely on Thursday morning & really don't need to be in Dallas until the falling day early afternoon. I've heard that East Texas is beautiful to drive through but really have no idea which highways involve that. Would love to pass through any older historic type towns while also experiencing some great scenic views. Pull over scenic views. I'm open to stopping in places that are worthy of checking out but obviously wouldn't want to spend too much time in one place ..read more

Hello! I’m planing a road trip in August. I’ll fly from NYC with my husband and 2 cats. We will stay there for couple of days and then head north to Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite NP and finally Lake Tahoe. I have a few questions. Hopefully I can find answers with your help! ? We have around 10 days-2 weeks. • How many days should we stay in LA? • Should we rent a car for the days we stay in LA? I don’t know if it’s worth it since the traffic is bad there. • I have earthquake phobia. Which area would be the safest to stay in LA (considering fault lines and structures of the buildings)? I’m o ..read more

N. CA to Phoenix - Best route recommendations needed

I'll be heading down to the general Phoenix, AZ area soon and am considering my route options. Personally, I try and avoid LA traffic like the plague, so I-5S is not ideal... however, taking I-80E to Reno, then south via Hwy 95 makes me leery, specifically because I don't know what to expect around Vegas. Any insight or recommendations are appreciated! submitted by /u/SQWRLLY1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
