Margaux grew up in Paris, but since she was a child she always knew that one day she would be living in New Zealand. So when the time came to buy the airline ticket it was a one way trip! After spending a couple of months travelling around the North island she arrived in Wellington in September 2018 and along with her partner Fabien she knew that this was the place to settle. Not long after this Margaux wondered up the stairs to my studio and fell in love with a simple crochet lace low backed dress. As soon as she put it on she felt like herself and I could tell by her happy face that this dr ..read more

A day to remember at Anam Carra Gardens.

Back in September I spent one magical day at the amazing Anam Cara Gardens on the Kapiti Coast at Otaki beach, where I had been invited to take part in a photo-shoot with like minded wedding enthusiasts. The venue was once a Catholic retreat but new owners Tim and Teresa Grigg have revamped it into a beautiful venue. The gardens are extensive but each area has it's own special flavour and there is a surprise around every corner. I arrived with Trina from Holy Smoke who was providing the Menswear and we were greeted by a room full of industrious people at work on our two lovely models. Photogra ..read more

Heirloom Wedding Dresses Recreated!

From time to time I am asked to create a new wedding dress out of a vintage dress, usually one which has belonged to the mother or grandmother of the bride. This has involved anything from saving what we could to make a veil, to a bit of reshaping of a dress to update it. Most often though, it involves removing lace from an heirloom dress and teaming it up with fresh new silk. Today I have photos from two brides who's dresses I worked on recently to share with you. Natalie came to see me with a dress which was worn by her mother in the 1980's, it was gorgeous and the time had come for new lif ..read more

New Beginnings!

Well it has been a very interesting year for me. My husband and I decided to make the big move to Auckland and so in August last year when my lease came to and end I shut up shop and began a new journey of selling my clothing and wedding dresses through other shops, Paper Swan Bride in Kelburn and Wallflower in Kapiti. After 21 years in retail I was looking forward to a change in pace, less responsibility and a new city. However it seemed that Wellington did not want to let us go and leading up to us leaving we had all sorts of set backs including a builder who was working on a bach up the co ..read more

If you are a bride looking for a non-traditional wedding gown - then let us inspire you with our beautiful bride Kyla! Kyla wanted something that fit her personality, and a traditional wedding gown just wasn't going to cut it. We had a lot of fun working with her, discussing colour and layering options, and you can see from the photos that her dress came out a pure dream! She chose a cotton style lace, with delicate flowers and a stunning scalloped lace hemline. The lace was layered over a stormy purple grey hue, which added a wonderful depth to the overall look, and made the pattern of her l ..read more

Today we are excited to have some photos to share from Fiona and Ollie's wedding day! Fiona and Ollie enjoyed a fun and relaxed outdoor wedding ceremony, and a well deserved pint to celebrate afterwards. The moment we met Fiona we knew we had found a kindred spirit! Her fun loving and relaxed attitude was an absolute joy to work with, and it was a pleasure to make a gown worthy of a bride who is beautiful both inside and out. Fiona wore a gorgeous full lace gown, made from the most beautiful and delicate fringe style lace. She chose a classic boat neckline, and contrasted this with a plunging ..read more
