An Evening With Le Cheese Geek

Anyone who knows me, even a little, knows how much I love cheese. Even before I lived in France, my love affair with cheese had already begun. It was just, well, a bit limited. I’d mostly eaten English cheddar, English stilton and a variety of Italian cheeses from Waitrosz. I didn’t realise how much cheese France had to offer, and how much more serious my relationship with cheese would get. So just how many cheeses are there in France? France has so many cheeses that people can’t even agree on a final count. The Ministry of Agriculture says it’s over 3000. The “Guide to Raw Cheeses” published ..read more

After the success of East Mamma, Ober Mamma, Mamma Primi, Big Love Caffè and Popolare, Big Mamma has opened yet another incredible restaurant at Pigalle – Pink Mamma. And wow, they really have outdone themselves this time! An Instagrammer’s paradise, Pink Mamma consists of four different levels, each different and unique in their own way. As soon as the restaurant opened, we made our way straight to the top floor, led by our waiter who only spoke Italian (which definitely added to the authenticity of the experience). On our way up we passed the first floor – a Great Gatsby style cock ..read more

A couple of weeks ago on a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning I had the chance to do a food tour with Discover Walks and their wonderful guide Marie. As most people know, us bloggers LOVE to talk about, write about and photograph food, so it was the perfect tour for us to take! The tour took place on Rue Montorgueil, my absolute favourite place in Paris and one of the oldest and most authentic streets in the city. Our tour started with a very warm welcome from Marie followed by our first food tour stop -the boulangerie! Marie told us the story behind the origins of the baguette which was so ..read more

Recently back after the Summer break, Le Food Market is the latest thing Parisians and Expats are going nuts over. The hip, cool event is a night market with 20 different stands offering a variety of meals and desserts. Best of all, the maximum price of anything on the market is 10 euros so it’s a fun AND cheap night out. The cuisine on the market represents food from all around the world and everything is homemade with quality products. The market is the first of its kind in Paris and happens twice a month on a Thursday. It has a really London vibe to it and is packed week in week out. It’s b ..read more

“Oh la la!” were the exact words my copine française used when I took her to Lavomatic for the first time. But wait, before you think my friends and I have some strange obsession with doing our laundry, let me explain… Lavomatic is one of Paris’ unique speakeasy bars that’s location is entirely hidden. From the outside it’s a laundromat and nothing more, but for those who know it’s secret it’s actually got an extra special feature! Behind one of the washing machines and up a small staircase you’ll find a hip cocktail bar where you can try a selection of inventive drinks and deli ..read more

This adorable little courtyard is, and has been since I discovered it, one of my favourite secret spots in Paris. I lived in Paris for almost 5 years before I finally found this little piece of heaven nestled in the heart of the buzzing 10th arrondissement. Special thanks to my wonderful friend Kath who took me here! So let me tell you all about why it’s such a special spot for people living in Paris… Cour des Petites Écuries literally translated means the courtyard of little stables and got its name from the horses that were kept there in 1769 when the courtyard was first built. Since th ..read more

Ob-La-Di: €€ € I recently discovered this adorable little cafe with my good friend Jayne. Named after the famous Beatles song, it’s the perfect place to go with friends. We went for breakfast on a gloomy Wednesday morning and had the most delicious food ever. I had the honey berry yoghurt and muesli and Jayne had the avocado tartine, accompanied by two mouth-watering lattes. It wasn’t cheap but the service and the food were definitely worth the price! Honey berry yoghurt and muesli: 10 euros Avocado tartine: 9 euros Lattes: 5 euros each. Le Poutch: € With the days bein ..read more
