Every one of our life stories has stepping off points. We turn from one page to the next. There are doors we walk through from which we cannot return. And there are ideas that change absolutely everything. In 2012, one idea changed everything for us. Jesus’ economy is based on self-sacrifice; and Jesus’ currency is love. I often walk in the trees. It helps me to reflect on what I'm rooted in. As I see the deep roots of the trees, I ask, "Who are you God, and who am I in light of who you are? Am I rooted in what matters to you or am I rooted in what matters to me?" And that's the big question for all of us. That's the question we're exploring via Proverbs 11–12 in this week's Jesus' Economy Podcast episode, "Be Rooted Like a Tree of Life." Be Rooted Like a Tree of Life: Proverbs 11–12 Sermon In this sermon, I examine Proverbs 11–12 to show that God calls us to be rooted like a tree of life. That rootedness ch ..read more

Jesus' Economy in Action
by Kayli Thompson

In many developing world contexts, women often face a distinct disadvantage when it comes to overcoming poverty. Instead of seeking work, women are encouraged to tend to the home and community. In addition, women often have less access than men to important com ..read more
