Celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Scottish twist. Taking all the flavours of a traditional Cullen Skink soup - Smoked Haddock, Potatoes, Leeks and Milk - and using them as a savoury pancake day filling. Say Bonjour to Crepes with a Scottish accent. Much to good to save only for Pancake Day! For the uninitiated, Cullen Skink possibly doesn't sound the most enticing of foods but I can assure you that it is. Hailing from Cullen, a small fishing village on the North East coast of Scotland, it's a hearty soup made of milk, smoked fish, potatoes and leeks. If you fancy giving it a go head to my ..read more

A quick, easy and fun traybake that's ideal for kids to help make. The classic Rocky Road takes on a festive twist with the addition of mini Gingerbread Men. Run run as fast as you can - this no bake Christmas treat won't hang around for long.  I've got a bit of a thing for a certain man who isn't my husband. This man is a Ginger. Nope not Prince Harry or Ed Sheeran or Ron Weasley (although Tim Minchin - it could be you...) Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man. To be honest my infatuation really only rears its head over the festive season, how ..read more

AD Post in collaboration with Highland Soap Company What to do in Fort William when it inevitably rains? Soap making, cinema and good food are at the top of my list. The Highland Soap Co's new visitor centre offers a fragrant retail paradise alongside the opportunity to get crafty and make your own bespoke soap. Local provenance abounds with food from its larder as it does at The Highland Cinema's cafe bar. My Dad's long standing Dad joke about Fort William is that as you walk down the High Street you can hear all the jackets breathing (feel free to groan). To be fair he does have a point ..read more

Aberdeen City Centre Beer Gardens

Prior to 2020 should there ever be a glorious sunny day in Aberdeen many of us would rush to try and bag a table at one of only a couple of spots in the city with outdoor seating. Cue covid and the new normal and suddenly if we want to enjoy a drink then certainly for now it invariably needs to be outdoors - whatever the weather! I've pulled together a summary of beer gardens in the city centre - there may well be more - let me know and I'll add them. Some are large and fully covered, others are small - perhaps only a couple of tables - with or without umbrellas so choose wisely and dress warm ..read more
