Hi, I have a local guy who distills his own spirits and he had a whiskey he has been working on but isn’t releasing it yet. It is very buttery and smells and taste like popcorn at over 110 proof. Just seeing if anyone has any recommendations to fit this profile, that I might try?

I'm arranging a stag do with 12 people where we're going clay pigeon shooting. I'd like to do some prizes for the people with the highest scores.
What could be a good choice for a nice single malt whisky that people might know? I'd rather get something people recognise (if possible) that's around the £50-80 mark.

On my 2nd pour and I’m quite enjoying it. Nose, butter and caramel. Palate, black pepper, cloves, banana bread (slightly burnt banana bread), long brown sugar finish.

I’ve enjoyed what everyone has written about the Bookers Storyteller’s Batch (2023-04) and did enjoy this bottle, but the ethanol hit me too hard after 10 minutes breathing hing. Even after another pour sat 30 minutes in the glencairn, it was still a bit overwhelming.
I’m still a wimp, I spent the last ~15 years happily drinking easy pours of mostly Islay Scotch with some Eagle Rare and Four Roses mixed in. Only got into the “discovery phase” after my divorce last year (rubbing alcohol cures the exterior ouchies, whiskey cures the inner ouchies, amiright?!?)
