1792 Small Batch Bourbon Review
It's just the booze dancing…
by G-LO

This bottle of 1792 Small Batch Bourbon comes to us courtesy of one of our classy neighbors who was kind enough to gift us this whiskey when he joined us for our annual New Year’s Eve get together. Because gathering with friends and enjoying some solid food and drink with friends is the BEST way to close out any year! It’s been quite a while since we’ve had this whisky. It was a staple at our gatherings in the years prior to the blog and we recall really enjoying at the time, but for whatever reason, it fell by the wayside. Before we get to the review, here’s a bit more info about the 1792 Sm ..read more

It's just the booze dancing…

On today’s tasting at The Murder Table we’re trying two brew’s from Zed’s Beer in Marlton, NJ. One is their Ireland Style Dry Stout and the other is a Salted Carmel. When these beers were purchased at a NJ farmer’s market last fall, we were told that mixing these beers would be well worth trying. So for this review, we’re trying them on their own and then taking their advice and making a half and half. Here’s a bit more info about Zed’s Beer taken directly from their manifesto: We are a 10 barrel micro-brewery specializing in what we call “approachable craft beer”. We believe that craft beer h ..read more

It's just the booze dancing…
by G-LO

We’ve reviewed several hard ciders over the years. All have been of the apple variety. This time around, we’ll be discussing one that adds a couple of berry varietals to the mix. It comes from Bold Rock Hard Cider and its called Imperial Berry. Here’s what Bold Rock has to say about it on their website: Imperial Berry Cider takes the same smooth and bold taste of our Imperial cider with an added jolt of delicious berry flavor. At 8.2% ABV, this blend of Blue Ridge Mountain apples, blackberry, and raspberry, is shockingly smooth and electrifyingly bold. To find out if Imperial Berry is as soo ..read more

There is absolutely no way that anyone could be bored at Philly BierFest which has been held for the past 11 years at The German Society of Pennsylvania. Even if you’re not a hardcore beer drinker, they’ve got plenty of stuff happening in their massive multi-building complex at 611 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia to keep you thoroughly entertained (and hydrated!). Thanks to the never ending craft cocktail revolution, we’ve been exposed to many a fine European liqueur, but never one from the Eastern part of the continent. On today’s episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we travel to Croatia for a taste of an apertif whose recipe goes all the way back to 1862. Antique Pelinkovac is its name and it comes in a lovely square bottle with a very pretty label. Since this is new to us and probably new to you too, we’ll cut to the chase and give you a bit more info about this spirit which came directly from a press release that landed in our inbox not so lon ..read more

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout Review
It's just the booze dancing…
by G-LO

We made it! The last of the three Dogfish Head beer reviews that make up their 2023/24 Winter Warmer releases. This beast of a beer is called World Wide Stout. Why do we call it a beast? Here’s why in Dogfish Head’s own words… Yes, this is the beer you’ve heard so much about! Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer. World Wide debuted in the winter of 1999, and the staying power of this brew is undeniable. Like For ..read more
