The onset of June brings thoughts of summer sunshine, beach vacations, and colorful gardens in bloom. I took a trip up to Millburn the other day to deliver this piece, which I'm calling Here Comes the Sun, to J Nunez Gallery. It is another piece with a brighter color palette than I'm used to, as I try new color combinations outside my comfort zone. This one is a pretty big piece, at 48 by 60 inches. What a special day we had building community and making art at the Hunterdon Art Museum. Our artist collective Steamroller Group and HAM hosted a Printmaking Jam Session Saturday, April 15 with local artists from Hunterdon and Bucks Counties. It was a full house with over 20 artists learning from each other and making prints in the studios of the beautiful, historic building that houses the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ. A good friend of mine has a saying: "Done is beautiful." I love that! I just finished another commission and shipped it off to Ohio. It was done as a companion piece to another painting. As I worked, I taped a print of the first piece to my easel to make sure the two works would complement one another. It was a fun assignment for myself.
