Software Engineering is not Computer Science. Software Engineering is about providing quality products with a goal in mind. Software Engineering is using engineering techniques of design to create solid software solutions.

I have a bit over 3 years of experience as a software engineer and I recently started to work in a new company that is quite different than my previous one in terms of encouraging to express your opinion, take initiative, communicate with other engineers... And I would like to gain some insights and advice on the challenges I've been having.
Despite receiving positive feedback on my technical skills as a software engineer, I find myself struggling with confidence, particularly when it comes to engaging with my colleagues. I often hesitate to express my opinions or take the initiative, finding ..read more

Is Devin AI a software engineering revolution or just a flash in the pan? Lets separate the hype from the reality.
Devin AI: The Mind-Blowing AI That Claims to Code Like You (or Better!)
Software development is about to change, or at least that's what Cognition Labs, the startup behind Devin AI software engineer, wants us to believe. Their AI creation allegedly writes its own code, fixes errors, and crafts websites with little human input.
This raises an important question: are tools like Devin AI a glimpse into a future of AI-human collaboration, or do they raise valid concerns about the pot ..read more

I got Laid off in November. I was a Senior Software Engineer at a Large Telecom company. I have been applying non stop and have gotten 3 or 4 interviews since then. Before my last job I worked at Boeing. I have submitted 42 applications with an employee referral and only heard anything back from a single one. I had an 30 minute culture interview with a healthcare startup earlier this week and it went so well. The woman I was speaking with told me directly that I was going to pass onto the next round which was just timed hackerrank test, requiring no employee to be there with me. I got the rej ..read more

Even though I've been programming for over 20 years, I've never had to deeply understand how networks or even the Internet really works (like TCP/IP and other protocols), let alone write programs involving network connections. I'd like to understand these concepts as well as network programming. Any suggestions on good resources for this? I find I learn best with structured material, such as books. My preferred language is C#, but I'm also pretty familiar with C/C++, Java, and Python.

Hey guys I am following Codecademys full stack engineer path which I am happy to follow. Just over 30% of the way through. I was told about a website named codewars however the problems on that are to hard for me to solve at this rate. I am wondering is there anything like that where it asked you to write basic pieces of code mainly Javascript in more of a game type scenario? Also was there anything that helped someone speed up there learning process greatly? cheers

Sorry if this a dumb question or repetitive. But I’m looking into getting a masters degree with no CS background in school. I finished a bachelors in biology but wanted to go into tech/swe. I am debating about getting a masters degree but some of these degrees that I see that fit my non-coding background are only a professional degree geared towards non-cs people. So I was wondering if getting one of them holds the same value as a masters of science or even a bachelors?
