Do any of you feel like your guitar tone kind of comes and goes? Not while playing but from day to day. Sometimes I'll sit down to play and have the nicest, warmest, clearest tone ever and then the next day it'll just seem dull and unresponsive.
I don't change my amp settings or pedal configurations or anything so as far as I can tell the options are 1) I'm just fickle and my standards for my tone change from session to session 2) this is normal with certain types of gear or 3) somethings wrong with my gear (e.g. I have a peavey classic 50 so maybe the tubes are starting to die?)

I had left my electric guitar plugged in and on the carpet in my room to go the the bathroom and when I came back I just flicked my amp back on while before sitting and my guitar moved like 3 inches to its left as if gently pushed in a second and I was a foot away from it. there was no visible physical force that may have moved it and it only happened once because I tried to recreate the instance.
what happened ? is this a guitar thing i dont know about?
Did I just witness a paranormal occurrence?

The back of guitar is painted black but not glossy. It’s not at all sticky but over time the neck will get a slight grimy feel to it and I see little white specks all along the neck Any tips?

okay so i dont play guitar or any instrument for that matter i just really like music and i wish i could communicate music but its hard when you dont really know technical terms and sound lingo. there’s a guitar sound/style i really like i just dont know what you’d call it. these arent the best examples but some i can think of off the top of my head if anyone can give a listen and let me know. my mind wants to call it a “swooning” guitar sound but idk if thats all that accurate lol. kind of an almost beachy twangy melancholic sound. is there a more technical term for this?

I’ve had my Larrivée D-02 for a number of years now and I find the more I play it, the more issues there are with the construction of the guitar:
The body of the guitar has a long crack from the bottom of the bridge down to the binding
a brace on the inside broke and a piece of it fell out of my guitar
The binding is coming off of the neck where it meets the body
Braces are pushing through the binding
D string tuner is super stiff
Strap pin comes loose very easily and needs to be tightened most days
This isn’t a cheap guitar, around $1200 when I got it. Someone else I know is ha ..read more

I use a Line6 Variax JTV 69 I got like 3 years ago used. However, it seems like it's not recognized in the pc using the usb interface. So I was thinking on probably getting some kind of pitch shift pedal, since repairing/replacing the guitar seems a bit tricky (I live in Latam, so it's not easy finding parts let alone people who can repair it). So I was looking for recommendations on pitch shift pedals. I looked at the Digitech Drop, or the EHX Pitchfork. I use standard, half step down, 1 step down and baritone for playing live, so thoughts?

It drives me up the wall how often I see this in response to any question about tone. Not because it isn't true, but because it isn't useful.
When somebody asks about tone, perhaps talk about what specifically their fingers might be able to do to achieve better tone. Let's give actual useful suggestions regarding technique, not empty cliches.

As the title states, looking for an HSS Strat style guitar under $2000. Can be new or used. I was looking at the American Pro II HSS in Dark Night, but am open to any options. Just looking for an extremely well made versatile guitar. I play mostly pop, rock, and hard rock (not quite to metal). My amp is a Marshall DSL40CR.
